Rated 1 out of 5 by from Consider other roller options This particular roller was affordable and seemed to be well constructed, especially the metal hitch framing holding the roller barrel in place. Upon the third use, a leak developed along the seam where the two halves of the barrel were joined or "plastic welded". I did not have the roller filled to capacity (water) and was annoyed to find that the plastic barrel thickness was actually rather thin and possibly too flexible to actually flatten problem areas in my lawn. It is possible that I received a defective item, but will purchase a metal roller in the the future...just to be safe. This was an online purchase and was very easy to return to my local Home Depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for the price! I bought the roller unit about a month ago, and was skeptical, at first, as I was not sure a poly roller would work as well on my lawn. Very easy to assemble and manipulate. After a couple trips around my property, my lawn looked better than when I moved in a couple years ago. Pretty light, so storage should not be a problem if I can figure out a spot to hang it up. I expect the E-clips could pop off if a very sharp turn is performed, but I use wide patterns when rolling, so I should be able to avoid that problem. I am very impressed with the simplicity of the poly roller and think I should be able to get a good many years out of it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly designed Assembly went very easily. The problem is with the assembly bar attachment to the roller drum. It says to secure everything by sliding a E-ring onto a slot at the end of the roller drum. This bar is supposed to be secure by a very very thin E-ring. Went to use it and about a half hour into using it both sides came apart. The E- was shaved right off. They should have incorporated a 2 slide bearings on it then secured it by placing a lock nut on each end. Needless to say this product is going back to Home Depot for a return.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good lawn roller I needed a lawn roller to level out my lawn. The winters underground critters had made quite a mess of my lawn. I looked at the steel rollers, but I live near the water,and everything thats steel rusts, also the empty weight of these units is very heavy, and many of the reviewers complained about leaks from bad welds. I saw this plastic roller, its empty weight is easy to work with, it wont rust, and I can fix the plastic if it does get a hole. I've used it twice now and am very happy with the 56" length and the job it did on my lawn! I waited for day after a rain when the ground was workable but not soggy. It even smoothed out tire tracks from the septic truck, when he had to back up on my lawn to pump the tank. All in all I'm happy, I just have to remember to drain it before the winter.

DO NOT SHIP VIA UPS they destroyed the box and it had the metal bars sticking out of the box and the main bar/scraper bar was bent enough the it was digging into the roller and putting dents in the roller...the company was super they shipped out a new bar that is ok now. The Brinly Roller company was alerted of this when I registered the roller and they were all super. They shipped out a new bar that is ok now. (note) Install the nuts & bolts on the PLUG side as it screws in hard and may hit the hardware installed as the instructions show/explain.

The parts come in a blister pack and the instructions follow the layout of the blister pack. It would be very difficult to not put this device together correctly. I have 3 of their products and it has always been very easy to do. It cost them extra money to do this but it makes it easy to follow. Thanks Brinly_Hardy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Its a roller. What can I say, huge box arrived beat up because it had little or no internal padding. Lucky the roller is heavy duty plastic and steel. Assembly was very easy. Fill it with Water and presto it's heavy. Roll it around behind your mower and flatten everything in your yard. Be sure the ground is not rock hard. I pull it up to some trees at the far end of my yard and let it empty out, watering the trees, when done with it. A great way to move 60 gallons of water. Works great!

I would probably put about 485 pounds of sand in this unit and not much more. That is the weight it is designed for. Also, note towing speed is about 3 MPH.

The roller would work good with gravel that is high in lime content and compactable. However, the larger “ loose “ gavel could puncture the roller.

yes you could fill it with sand I think when not in use you would still want to remove plug fo reduce heat expanding the roller. The only draw back is it would be harder to empmty and store if you want to move it around during off seasons.

Yes, you can use the roller on clay covered with pine straw to compact the soil that was not compacted by the bobcat tracks, but it might not be very effective at smoothing things out as it will just try and compact the high points and they won’t move much because the soil next to the high point is already compacted. If the pine straw is not already on top of the clay, a box scraper (need a sleeve hitch attachment) would do a good job of leveling and then you could put the pine straw on.

I would not attempt it. When using this , I use a lawn tractor with a 28hp. engine. At full throttle, it is a work-out for the tractor.
