Overview

Model # DT-480BH Store SKU # 1000718569

Over time, lawns accumulate a layer of old grass clippings, dead roots and other small debris, but the patented Brinly Dethatcher combs thatch and clippings onto the surface where they're easily bagged or re-mulched. This 48-inch dethatcher features 24 independently flexing dual tine tips for maximum thatch pick up as well as oil tempered spring tines with triple coil strength for durability.

  1. Maximum Thatch Removal: For larger mowers and lawns, a 48 inch working width and 2 rows of 12 independently flexing spring steel tines comb through a lawn, lifting thatch up and out of the lawn where it can be mowed or mulched to promote a healthier root system.
  1. Ideal for Large Yards: Wide 48 inch working width is perfect for larger mowers or bigger greenspaces - covering more ground for quicker results.
  1. Long-Lasting Construction: All steel construction, tines are made of durable spring steel; in the unlikely event of a breakage, a safety rod is included to catch the tine and prevent contact with mower blades. No flat rubber-tread transport wheels for durability.
  1. Transport Wheels: 8 inch never-flat transport wheels are located behind and in-line with the tray to minimize footprint width and facilitate leveling.
  1. Spring Steel Tines: 24 long-lasting, triple-coil strength 3/16 diameter spring steel tines stay flexible and guarantee performance.
  1. Universal Hook-Up: A single, heavy-duty universal hitch pin is included to easily attach the Dethatcher to any rider or tractor and most any ZTR or ATV.
  1. Simple Assembly: Includes easy pictorial assembly manual. Assembly video also available on Brinly's YouTube channel

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Satisfied This dethatcher is a well-made product. All necessary parts were included and were neatly packed. Assembly was very easy. Most of the nuts and bolts are the same size so you don’t have to fiddle with different nuts. Wrenches work, but a socket wrench with a deep socket speeds up much of the assembly. Delivery was on time, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Made in North America Product!!!! I just love a product made in North America. Solid steel and well thought out. No short cuts. I have been using it for the last few months and only had to tighten a few nuts. Works great as advertised. Really appreciate other honest reviews as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Be mindful in the initial steps of assembly It works well. The only reason this product did not receive the full five stars was because of one step in the instructions was unclear, and as a result I had to take it apart from the beginning and put it back together. The instructions are not clear that the base of the unit the metal that is pointing up is to be at the back, and the downward lip is orientated to the front when orientated as if you were ready to hook it to your tractor. If you have the downward lip to the back it creates a difficulty in a steps later on. Another thing that wasn't apparently clear was that it was referred to "dimples pointing up" From my knowledge a dimple is a depression leaving me to believe the downward depression was to be facing up. When you are assembling the unit the correct orientation is that the round circles come up from the work surface like the top of the hill. I'm not sure if there is a more effective way for the manufacturer to communicate those orientations as every way is open to interpretation. If you attempt to attach the tines if the circles are creating a depression, the tines won't be held in place effectively.

How do you set the depth of the tines?

Asked by: Terry
Terry - The tines are initially adjusted when you are assembling the dethatcher using the wheel mounting brackets. If you are looking for a dethatcher that has different thatching heights, you might want to check out our DT-402BH 40" dethatcher. Please give us a call at 877-728-8224 if we can help with any additional questions.
