Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not great I just received this the other day and installed it today. Not sure if it came bent at the back or it bent while popping out the knockout for the wiring to come through (exactly the way it’s shown to do so). Got it mounted and found out that the fan won’t work when the filter is over top of it because it interferes with the fan. It is very loud, which I knew before purchasing it from reading reviews. Haven’t used it yet while cooking so I’m unable to comment on its performance for the actual ventilation. Also, the cover on the front where the air would blow out into is so loosely fitted to the slots that when the fan is on, it blows halfway off, so I guess I’ll need to find an adhesive for it. Guess you get what you pay for...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality for price Really good hood for 100 dollars. It was relatively easy to put up but I recommend having someone around to help. I didn't find the fan to be too loud.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Basic unit in stainless I was replacing my 40 year old range hood in a 40 year old house and wanted a similar basic unit only in stainless to match my appliances … I mainly use the light but Its vented but the nice thing is if you don't have a vent it would still work and has a classic no frills look.... simple hook up to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great range hood on a budget Amazing for the price. Works perfectly. Easy to install. Nice quality. Great service from home depot during Covid as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUY A HIGHER CFM ONE Its not as powerful and lets the smell spread across the house. Thinking of throwing it away and getting another one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 30 inch nutone rangehood 160 cfm Good price but very noisy. I had nutone rangehood before which was more quiter.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good housing but pathetic fan design I recently purchased one locally for occasional use, so that I could brew beer in my garage in the winter without needing to partially open the garage door to vent the steam from the boil (I use electric heat so don't have CO/CO2 to vent but a 60-90 minute boil puts 1 to 1.5 gallons of water into the air). Connected to a very short (4-5 foot) 4" duct and a dryer vent, this hood moves almost zero air - barely enough to tip the built-in flapper valve. Out of the box, lots of air pressure escapes around the snap-in front vent cover and so I taped that up well - but air movement is still very poor. The problem lies in the fan and shroud design. The blade design really doesn't push air well and there is far more air movement laterally off the tips of the fan blades than being pushed through the blades - in other words, it swirls far more air around and away from the fan intake than it pushes through the fan blades and out of the exhaust. This was largely true even once I disconnected the the 4" exhaust ducting - with no back pressure whatsoever the fan still tended to swirl more air around the intake than it pushed through to the exhaust. As mine is built, there's absolutely no way this fan is going to move anything close to 160 CFM when connected to any typical building vent ducting - if you just want something to swirl air around within your cooking area then buy it, but if you want something that will actually vent through ductwork it's pretty useless. I honestly didn't expect great performance for the low price, but this is so feeble IMO it shouldn't be on the market at any price. The chassis itself and electrical and venting hookups all suit my needs fine and so I'll keep it and try some mods. First will be trying to shroud the fan blades better, mostly out of curiosity and the urge to experiment. But I expect that still won't give me anything close to 160 CFM and my best option overall is going to be to add a vortex inline duct fan that is actually designed to move air through the ducting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price - easy to install Purchased a month ago. Very easy install (took about 5 minutes to unhook the old and install the new) nice finish on it. Two fan settings.

Can this be vented outside?

Asked by: Jennyd
Yes, this is a convertible unit, which can be ducted to the outside (vertically or horizontally), or it can be installed non-ducted, with the purchase of charcoal filters which are sold separately.

If installed without connecting to exterior exhaust (ductless), is important to install the optional recirculation kit? What are the advantages or disadvantages of not using recirculation kit?

Asked by: alex2022
Yes it is important. The recirculation kit, essentially is a carbon filter. If you are not ducting the exhaust outside and you do not install the recirculation kit, you will just be blowing the air around. Exhausting it outside is way more effective.
