Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing lifespan Purchased in December 1997. That is correct 1997, and still running fine for more than 21 years. I never had any problems with it and I still don't, and it does the job fine. My wife cooks spicy foods every day and this fan leaves no odours behind. It is a little noisy though. Pros: Reliability, efficacy, longevity. Cons: Noise level is somewhat high.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELLENT QUALITY This was a replacement Hood. Instructions were simple to follow. It looks great and functions very efficiently. Very satisfied. Definitely recommend. I (a 74 year old female) installed it in less than an hour. Fitting to the duct was the most tedious but overall relatively simple.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Vibration Noise The vibrating noise coming from the metal work on this fan when it is on high is unbearable. the metal work oilcans and vibrates so much it can only be used on the lowest setting and even then it is noisy. And there is actually only a very small portion of the 30 inch width that is actually only about 10 inches. The rest is just a dirt catcher. Did Braun actually ever try this product to see just how bad it is?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value for the price Purchased this recently to replace a similar 10 year-old model and minimize any installation challenges. Decent quality for the cost, the variable fan adjustment is an excellent feature missed on many much more expensive models. It suggests that an LED light bulb is not recommended, but we have used a dimmable one with no problems. The fan is quite loud on high speed, but quite quiet at lower speeds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from affordable yet works very well This range hood works very well. It is noisy though, with a lot of vibrations. We bought it to replace a range hood of a popular brand name. It is made better and works better. It was an easy install. The only problem is that it is not exactly as shown. The face plate appears to be black in the picture, but it is actually a medium/dark shade of grey. I almost returned it because it doesn't match the stove (stainless steel/ black). It works well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mechanically works, but visually not perfect. The fan works as it should. Downsides are: Where they applied stickers there is a faint line that can't be removed. When you are taking the cover off when using ductless you can see through the vent slot to the inners of the fan which is unsightly. The vent slots are too big or should have a screen behind them or on a different angle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little unit This range hood is a great unit for the price we paid. 2 settings for the fan and the light. Works as a great night light in the kitchen

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good. Really easy to install and it looks great. I wish it was a liiiiittle more powerful, but definitely does what it needs to do. :)

Can you use an LED light bulb in this range hood?

Asked by: owla
We do not recommend LED bulbs in this unit, as we cannot guarantee the operation of the LED bulbs. Testing has shown the light will become dimmer and some LED bulbs lose up to 50% of stated output. In some cases, the bulb will not recover even after it cools off and is permanently degraded. Off-the-shelf LED bulbs do not work properly when combined with hoods that have “mechanical” controls (rockers, rotary, pushbutton) with multiple light levels. The result can range from lower light levels to flickering lights or even no light at all. Sometimes the LED replacement may not go off, staying on at a very low level even when the switch is off. For situations when a range hood is listed for use with a halogen or incandescent bulb “up to” or a “Max” wattage, it is okay to use or replace the bulb with the appropriate type at any wattage below the stated maximum. For example, “up to 75 watts” does not mean you need to use 75 watts, but that the replacement should be a bulb up to that rating….it will be okay to use a 60 watt.
