Rated 1 out of 5 by from overheats according to Bur Cam I am on my 2nd pump in 4 years. I use them to draw water from our lake and water my lawn and gardens wash the cars etc etc. If we turn off the hose several times and re open them eventually the pump wont re start. It just makes a loud humming noise. I called the mfg and described the problem and they said they never heard of this issues. suggested it over heats but it will do this after only 5 mins of working Well i now have 2 pumps in my garage that both do the exact same thing. Yes if they run continuously they work fine but they dont seem to like being turned off and on by closing and opening your nozzle like when you wash your car etc etc. Currently i am looking for a new pump WITH a pressure tank to handle my watering requirements. 2 that dont work is enough.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Overspend for too oversimplify Bought the pump for the stainless steel design; only the housing is stainless, many parts a cheap nylon or plastic that are not durable. Pump was installed with a 60 mil sandpoint so no sediment damages that others have reported - it's worked fine for a number of years - likely 10. Winterized by draining and filling with plumbing antifreeze - it wintered fine until this year - plastic NPT nipple on top of fluomac failed over the winter. Now I need to find out if the fluomac housing is available as a customer part - Burcam doesn't list on the website - customer service adventure begins Design wise it only does 115 v, I would prefer 230 v and cheaper electrical bills.. The fluomac is not tuneable, it comes with a factory pressure setting and it's not adjustable - this causes the pump to operate to frequently and run for too short a time I would not repurchase this pump - classic case of oversimplification of user controls results in lack of function

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3 year owner: Good features but poor quality We love that it can run as an On-Demand pump OR be paired with a tank and run as a traditional pump. I love the extra electronics that protect the pump more that a traditional mechanical pump. Year 1: The little bolt+washer that allows you to drain the pump unthreaded and went flying (never to be seen again). Ok maybe that was my fault, perhaps I didn't tighten it. I fashioned a replacement. Year 3: The similar bolt on the top rusted out and finally broke and went flying (found it, but it's disintegrated). Upon checking that top bolt, while it's chromed and 'appears' to be stainless steel it clearly isn't it's rusted away. Who makes a critical bolt directly exposed to the inrushing water out of metal that rusts?! This is also a VERY short bolt that just goes through some stamped steel not through a cast piece. I fashioned a replacement that'll do for the moment but I'll have to try to buy a replacement from them as it's very much a custom bolt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Had it ten years ! Works great still. I bought this model of Burcam in spring 2007 for our summer place where we have two RVs. We stay here 80 days each years between early May and late September. It is used to supply two RVs with water so we don't have to fill the holding tanks and listen to that annoying 12-volt pump. It pumps water from a 1,000-L tank to the trailers. Perfect for the task and has worked flawlessly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from leaks I bought this pump 2 weeks ago and it started leaking from a bolt. I exchanged the pump for a new one today. Brought home the new pump, installed and it started immediately leaking from the control module gasket. Called Bur Cam customer service and they suggested I get it exchanged again. I was refused any kind of compensation for my troubles. Went back to Home Depot and exchanged it again. I inspected the pump with the HD rep and I noticed the guage was not put together properly (cardboard face was damaged). We had to take the gauge off the one I brought back and install on replacement.... Sent complaint into Bur Cam today waiting to hear back. HD was great to help me out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I will never buy this product again Purchased one of these about 2 years ago and it stop operating about 12 months ago. It would run and then when you turned the water off you had to reset the pump by unplugging it. Item is covered under 2 year warranty but you have to ship this heavy product to Quebec to qualify for your warranty. Not worth it! So I bought another one because it would be easy to refit into the existing plumbing and now this one is leaking but not at any plumbing joints. Somewhere in the housing. Product works when it works but the warranty is terrible and really based upon the terms, there really is no warranty. I would not buy this product again.

Hello. Renovating my home and would like to avoid upgrading the service from the city to my home bc of cost. The interior was upgraded to all showers and I installed an on demand hot water heater. Will your product help increase the pressure?

I want to install this unit in my food truck, the water tank is below the floor, so would be about 16” lift to pump inlet, what is the maximum pressure from this pump, I need no less than 80-100 psi.....?

    Asked by: Ross
As per your explanation of your installation, this pump will provide around 60 to 65 PSI against a close discharge. Since pressure is inversely proportional to the flow, as soon as you open a tap, the pressure will drop. Unfortunately, as per your explanation, it will not reach your requirement. In reality, we need to know what flow is required at this pressure level then we can find the appropriate product.

Can you use this pump for a sand point well?

    Asked by: Thua
Yes but the installation of a sand filter is mandatory, between the water source and the pump to prevent sand entering into the suction inlet of the pump body. Call our customer service desk at 1.800.361.1820 for additional information.

can i get 40 psi out of a water storage tank to supply water to 200 feet of line... ?  shower, toilets ,sinks?

    Asked by: ronp
Keep in mind that the pressure is reversely proportional to the flow. If you open 3 faucets at the same time, the pressure drops tremendously. However, for one faucet, this is not a problem. Use a one inch pipe for this length of 200 feet to reduce to the minimum the friction loss.

I have a 2000 gal cistern (10 ft high) and need a pump to take out the water (not go into house) and water garden with hoses (no soaker system). Is this a pump to use? I had a sump pump in cistern-burned out-needs to be easy install no plumber. thanks

    Asked by: indigo
This pump is exactly what you need for this type of application. Just hook the suction pipe in the front inlet and the garden hose, using an adaptor, at the top discharge outlet. However, connect the suction pipe at the bottom of your cistern tank to assure a gravity feed to the pump inlet. Using a suction pipe from the bottom of the cistern, running up above the cistern and dropping to the pump is not a good idea. Another installation option is to put this pump above the cistern so it can just lift the water directly from the bottom. You can call our customer service desk at 1.800.361.1820 for aditionnal information.

How is this pump in operating a sand point 12 feet in the ground? The sand point has a check valve to keep the pump primed.

    Asked by: Claude
This pump is a shallow well type so it can lift water down to 25 feet from the pump. A sand point is the point of suction in the water table so 12 feet is inside of the maximum pumping level. The check valve allow to keep the suction pipe primed but for at the first use, you need to pour water into the pump body to completely fill it and then turn the pump on to start the suction process. If air pockets are lift into the pump body, you will need to pour water again and restart the pump. Repeat this operation till all the air pockets are removed from the suction pipe. Make sure to not run the pump without water longer than 30 seconds when priming.

is the pump wired for 110 or 220 or both?

we are about 100 ft from the lake shore and about 12 to 15 ft above the water.can the pump pull the water that far and that high or is it better to have the pump closer to the source and push it to the cottage? could a pressure tank be incoperated in line with the pump so it would not have to come on as often? Is the pump quiet when operating?
