Rated 5 out of 5 by from Designed with care, strong enough to stand on lid Glad to use the right materials because this is not a project you'll enjoy digging up to fix in 10 years. The corrugated sides are designed to anchor the basin when you pour 1-inch crushed stone around it, in case it is already filling with water and rising due to buoyancy. In my case I also drilled small holes in the side to aid drainage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Self Installation This basin is very good value, and very tough construction. In my case I didn't have a pipe from the drain tile so it was drilled out to allow seepage into the basin from the surrounding gravel. One tip - I watched a youtube video on how to install it (the instructions leave a bit to be desired) which recommended installation flush with the floor, which I did, but mine must have been a bit out of round and I had to work a bit to fit the lid into it. It might be better to leave the top lip above the floor so it's more flexible so you can get the lid in. However, it seems to seal well with the bayonet type arrangement. Mine was used for radon mitigation, so to ensure a positive seal I put a line of plumber's putty around the lid to basin gap to ensure it's airtight, and added a little silicone sealant at the wire and pipe seals for good measure. The plumber's putty should make it easy to get the lid off to service the pump. All in all, it's an easy installation that any handyman can do

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but Weak Top Edge can Pose a Challenge I had my french drain replaced last fall. In the process, the professional doing the work, installed 2 Burcam sump basins in opposite ends of my basement. I am satisfied with the overall design and functionality of the basins, but with one caveat: The top rim of the basins are rather flimsy. So when the professional poured concrete around the basins to make them level with the basement floor, the edges of the basins were pushed inward, and no longer allowed the covers to be properly installed or removed. I tried using several clamps to push the edges of the basins outward until the concrete dried, but it was not enough to resolve the issue. I ended up having to shave off the edges of the covers so that they would fit. My recommendation: Burcam should reinforce the top edges of the basin and / or provide some sort of an expansion ring that can be used to counteract the inward pressure created by the wet concrete during installation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Pretty straightforward. There are no predrilled holes, which was good in my case. The outer ribbing should help keep it from floating if it’s empty and the soil on the outside is saturated. Fits my 1hp pump no problem. Lid turns to lock and can support my weight when standing on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product Great piece of hardware. The delivery took longer than expected and at one point it was "misplaced", but got it eventually

I am wondering if this kit is suitable for a flooding crawlspace ?.there is only a dirt floor and the foundation has cracks. Once all cracks have been fixed using hydraulic cement , it has been suggested that I put in a sump. It is not a very large area

Does the lid include a gasket to prevent radon leakage/moisture evaporation from the basin?

Asked by: Johnnyhusband
This product is not Radon proof. The Ontario and Quebec regulations does not request a Radon proof basin. However it is air sealed with a foam gasket.

Are there holes in the basin to allow seepage water to enter, or are the only water intakes located where the drain pipes enter?

Asked by: Jonathan
The only intake is the drain pipe connection. However, in several installation, the installer drills 1/4'' holes to allow the water under the concrete slab to enter the basin and to be evacuated by the pump.
