Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality All Around Smoker/Grill We are a premier 60+ resident Assisted Living provider in central North Dakota that provides our residents a great living atmosphere and very fine unique dining. We purchased the Camp Chef SmokePro LUX 36 with the sear box this spring (2019) to add to the fine dining experience and what a great addition it was! This smoker/grill gets a regular weekly and sometimes bi-weekly workout smoking or grilling an average of 45-50lbs of beef brisket, 9-11 full racks of pork or beef ribs, 50-60 8oz steaks, loaded double racks of chicken pieces or bratwurst with rave reviews from our residents and their guests. This grilling/smoking menu is becoming so popular that we are budgeting for another Camp Chef to keep up with the demand from the increased resident guest influx on grill night! The Camp Chef SmokePro LUX 36 has preformed great so far, the only thing I don't like about this smoker is the hot spot area created by the location of the firebox. It seems to me that it should be located more in the center and further away the bottom grates. I find that I have to do a lot of meat rodeo to keep the cooking even both on the indirect and direct grilling. The hot spot is a learning curve you have to get used to with this pellet smoker verses a stick or charcoal smoker which I am more used to, but the ease, consistency and convenience of the pellet system is hard to beat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoroughly impressed and now a pellet believer Fair warning this behemoth comes in a large box on a pallet and in a Semi so make plans to meet the guy with your truck if you live on a small private road. Ask me how I know. Easy to assemble albeit it took a moment of staring at the paperwork to figure out the instructions are basically a spec diagram with all the individual pieces pulled apart but still lined up the right way. Once I put it together I couldn’t decide what to cook first so I settled for some poor mans burnt ends because it was much quicker than a full brisket and it was a new concept I wanted to try out. Basically a Chuck roast cooked up just like you would smoke a full packer brisket. They turned out just like burnt ends and only take about 5 hours. After I had my confidence up with it I pumped out butts full briskets and quite a few cuts of deer. This was a great decision because working night shift I can put something on in the morning and sleep comfortably throughout the day knowing my smoker is right in check. I was skeptical about pellets but this thing has made me a believer. I even hooked up my Smoke pro temp monitors the first couple of cooks to check and it has been within 10 degrees on the grill temp and the meat probe was always within 5 degrees of it and me thermapen. I’ll be back with more updates after I’ve put more miles on it because I plan on running this thing ragged.

Assembly was very easy and took less than an hour. Did the 30 minute burn end no problem at all. Smoked a pork butt the next day and it came out great. Used about half a hopper of pellets, temp did fluctuate about 15 degrees on either side of 225, but did have good smoke. Had been using a Masterbuilt 40 inch electric smoker, which would fluctuate 30 to 40 degrees on either side of 225. Look forward to trying brisket and ribs in the next week.

Very nice well built only used once but worked great I also got the side kick for it I can do breakfast lunch and dinner on this smoker better than more higher price smokers has a fire pot clean out and pellet clean out the higher price one you have to take the insides out to clean out with a shop vac.

Brand New Grill Never Finished 1st Smoke: The product started off good: fast delivery, easy to assemble, felt sturdy and looked good. Unfortunately that is where everything good about the unit ended. 1 hour into smoking (1 hour is when I noticed) the unit stopped working, had no power and blew the fuse. Turns out what they call the "Hot Rod" (the heating element) had blown. Camp Chef customer service was horrible. They wouldn't even send me to the warranty department without providing name, address, phone number, proof of purchase and the unit's date code which shows when it was made. Once finally connected with the warranty department and the troubleshooting for the problem was complete, the warranty department would not send the replacement part until the all the same information that had been provided to talk to them in the first place. Plus I would have to fix the unit myself. Both departments seemed apathetic to the fact that dispite the unit being brand new it worked for one hour or less and they could not care any less about my worries on their product's quality and longevity. I returned the product and purchased a different brand. I definitely would NOT recommend this smoker or this brand.
