Rated 2 out of 5 by from The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten. I want to start out by saying when I bought this compressor, I was initially impressed. The specifications on this unit are better than all the other big box store competitors, and this unit is significantly less expensive. I've now had this compressor a little over a year, and I've used it probably 15-18 times. A couple of times a month, max. Usually just for my impact gun to remove wheels. I always drained the tank when done and stored everything nicely. I just had to replace the cut in switch, because it failed. My compressor was only outputting 90psi. Let me tell you, my initial impressions went right out the window, QUICK. Everything on this compressor is quickly assembled low quality parts. The cut in switch and the regulator are garbage. You have to take a lot of the compressor apart to replace the switch. Half of the OEM screws/bolts had stripped or crossthreaded threads on them and I ended up having to replace them. The assemblers should have their auto screw drivers taken away! I replaced both the cut in switch and the regulator and the compressor is back to working okay. I will say, you have to take a significant portion of the compressor apart to replace the cut in switch, which seems like a poor design. I will say this compressor is on the louder side. But I think most of them are pretty loud, unless you specifically buy a "quiet version". Most of my air tools are made by Cambell Hausfeld, and I will say that this compressor will not effectively run a air cut off wheel or air grinder. All of the tools require more CFM than this compressor can generate. You would think a 26 gallon air compressor, when full "primed" can run an air cut off wheel to cut a couple 5/16 bolts, without needing a break. But it can't. You get about 40 seconds of continuous run time, and then you have to give it a 30/40 second break. I really don't think this compressor "likes" to run continuously. I had 6 bolts to cut, and when I was done, the top of the engine was 280*F. That's hot, for an air compressor motor. On the topic of problems, the drain valve for the tank is on the bottom, in the middle, but it isn't recessed at all, it's on the flat of the tank, so water does collect on the bottom. This was obvious, as there was small rusty marks on the inside of the tank that I could see when I looked inside. Again, I don't think I should have had to take it this far apart to replace the cut-in switch, but there was no other way. It was just the extra two minutes to remove the plug on the tank, and I was curious so I did. The exhaust baffle also can't be tightened due to how the engine cover connects, and therefore can only be tightened hand tight. But when you hand tight it, and run the compressor, the exhaust loosens up every hour or so of run time, and all of a sudden the engine gets really loud. This is more of an annoyance than anything else, but it just adds to the list of design issues of this compressor. Speaking of Annoyances, the handle isn't great. The handle screws into welded flanges on the tank with thumb screws, but the thumb screws are small, and the handle remains perpetually loose, no matter how tight you tighten the little screws. Not loose to where it will fall out, or where you can't move the compressor, but loose as in, it rattles or clanks when you try and move it. I will say, the one good thing about this compressor is the Customer Service at Cambell Hausfeld. The guys on the phone did spend a bit of time with me to troubleshoot, and they were able to get me replacement parts. I'm obviously out of the warranty period, but they did help me.

It is not excessively loud, and I cannot imagine my neighbor lady would hear it with my garage doors closed. It takes about 10 minutes to fill, and doesn't turn on too often when standing by. The handle is a bit rickety, and the box looked like a large predator got hold of it during shipping. There was a small dent/scratch on the tank, and the air filter housing was bent (nothing a hammer, short piece of oak dowel, and vise couldn't fix...but loses a star for being a pain in the neck). Tire pressures are correct, wood tools are dust free, and my garage floor is as dust free as ever. If it breaks, I'll update it.

One. There is one discharge outlet at the end of the regulator. But you could easily purcahse a 1-3 adapter and have three, if you needed.

I have a dewalt impact wrench, one-half inch drive, and it says it uses 90 psi and 5.9 cfm. So this compressor only does 4 cfm at 90 psi so will my impact wrench work at all, or work somewhat, or do I have to look elsewhere? I only use this wrench twice per year to remove my mower deck blades so i can live with some minor performance problems, but it would be a serious error to buy a compressor that cannot even do this twice per year task. thanks.

YES, this compressor will easily power that tool, for light-duty short duration tasks. Neither the tool nor the compressor can be damaged by such application. The manufacturer's ratings ( like those recommended in manuals) are for continual repeated use. They have engineers "massage" specs so their tools do not fail, yet operate satisfactorily. That's why ALL tool specs are slightly under full capacity. They want to maintain their brand's reputation by keeping operational parameters WELL within safe limits. You will need adaptors to fit the 1/2" air input. And that means you must increase the pressure by about 12.5 percent. That works out to about 100 PSI. ( or slightly higher). This compressor can EASILY meet that demand, and because of the large holding-tank, it can operate for several minutes at that flow-rate without any problems. Hope that helps! ;-)

What is the noise level (dBa) of this machine? The husky 30 gallon ultra quiet is @78dBa
Asked by: HelloWorld
As measured by an iPhone A-weighted decibel meter APP, at a distance of three feet in my garage It shows 98 dB. Be careful when comparing dB ratings from manufacturers! There is NO industry standard for distance, room acoustics, or what weighted-scale they use for specs. Generally, compact dB meters are only accurate to within + / - 6dB, and my garage has reflective surfaces ( cement floor, hard walls and ceiling) all of which affect measurement. The "scale' one uses has large effect on measurement too. The A-weighted scales are generally for music, not noise. But that's the best I can do since I do not have an expensive professional dB meter. So my results are probably inaccurate too, but they are honest, and I provided all the relevant facts needed for fair comparisons. I am not trying to "sell" anything. I hope that helps! ;-)

Does this compressor have the ability to cut corrugated metal? Roofing type metal
Asked by: HDKEITH58
I think I understand what you mean. Obviously, a compressor cannot cut anything since it is not a cutting tool. However, this compressor has plenty of power and storage capacity to DRIVE all cutting tools. So, if that is what you meant, then the answer is YES, it can easily drive all common cutting tools, including those designed for cutting metal roofing or any other sheet metal. Hope that helps! ;-)
