It's well made, and the keyless chuck works well. It does not have a lot of power. At only 30 ft/lbs of torque, it's a fraction of the power of my cordless drill and driver. I was only able to drive fasteners to just flush, and more often than not it was not even to flush. I was able to drill holes in soft wood or thin metal panels, and that - naturally - helped with driving screws flush. One thing I found it handy for is using it as a grinder. It's comfortable in the hand, and more so than my actual die grinder. Again, it does not have a lot of power and it's working a right angle so it won't cut through #8 rebar, but it will polish and debur. Overall, it's OK, but I will stick with my 18-volt cordless drill and driver for most work. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This is a nice air drill without having to spend a fortune. It is smooth operating, has variable speed, and doesn't require a large air volume to operate. It has enough power for larger size bits, provided you use pilot holes. The keyless chuck is a plus that allows you to change bits quickly. I used this to drill holes for rivets in aluminum material. The weight of the drill is perfect and allows you to drill continuously without fatigue. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This drill works pretty well but could use a little more power I was drilling a pretty good size bit in a 2x4 to try it out and I had to stop and back it out a bit and go again several times to get through the long side of the board. I wouldn't typically have to stop and start with my regular cordless drill. On the other hand, the weight of this drill is much lighter and smaller than my other drill. Overall, it functions well and with a smaller bit and/or a sharper bit I think the drill would perform just fine. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Certain other brands are twice the price of this particular tool. I also like the cost comparison to standard electric drills. The direction switch being in the right-hand thumb position is a plus. I would definitely suggest putting this drill into any shop toolbox. The price also makes it sensible to carry on a service truck without worry of damage to a higher priced tool. This is a tool that'll stay in the shop 'cause you need a huge compressor to fuel it. And it has to stay near the drum of oil you need to keep it lubricated [manual says you can't pour too much into it every hour]. It is very noisy ... definitely ear protection required. All that being said, it's a solid tool. Low vibration. Good ergonomics. But, as a woodworker for 45+ years, I'm going to stay with my stable of cordless six 18V drills [and 15 batteries from 2 to 9 Ah] for pre-drilling, counter-sinking, and setting screws. While I think having this tool in the shop for metalwork is just fine, I don't see it around wood ... okay, maybe if I have to bore a 1" diameter x 6" hole in oak and my corded 1/2" drill is off somewhere. Now, if I can figure a way to run my air compressor hose from the shop to the front steps, I'll get to use it for why I got it ... prepping the wrought iron railing for painting. If the pressure drop is too great, I'll have to go to 'Plan B' ... my cordless grinder with wire brush cup. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Powerful….but noisy, this drill, with the right drill bit will make short work of creating holes in your workpiece. The manufacturer recommends, as a minimum, to use a compressor capable of delivering 4.0 CFM @ 90 psi, with a tank size of at least 26 gallons. More on that later. The drill comes with a keyless 3/8 inch chuck (utilizing a two-piece ring-and-sleeve construction) for quick bit changes (though I did have the chuck loosen up when running in reverse to unstuck a bit….see video below). Rated at a no-load speed of 2,000 rpm, it is best used with high speed drills (no hole-saws or milling type annular cutters). The tool’s 2.3 pound weight is well balanced making it comfortable to grip and use. The exhaust port is located at the bottom of the hand grip, which directs the exhaust air stream away from the work space. A ¼ inch NPT connection if provided for attachment of an air hose or quick disconnect fitting (not supplied). The “Forward-Reverse” lever is conveniently located on the left side of the operating trigger, easily actuated by a right hander’s thumb. If you are left-handed, you may find the F-R lever pokes into your finger. This tool requires an air supply that can keep up with the demands of use. The manufacturer’s specifications call out for a minimum 4 CFM @ 90 psi supply with a 26 gallon tank capacity. My shop compressor, which only has a 20 gallon tank, is rated to deliver 7.4 CFM @ 90 psi. When testing the drill, setting the regulator at the tank to 100 psi to provide 90 psi at the tool (due to loss in the hose) resulted in adequate performance (though the compressor began cycling on during the second hole being drilled—see video below). To test it out, I drilled some 3/16 inch holes in 1/8 inch steel plate (and enlarging some existing holes with a step drill), which it handled quite well. While reversing the drill to back out the bit when it jammed, the chuck started to loosen up…probably needed a little more tightening….and I don’t know that this will be used in the reverse mode that often. The drill comes with a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty against defects. Maintenance is pretty much limited to making sure it is oiled prior to each use and before being stored without use. As noted above, there is no significant muffling of the exhaust, so this is a noisy tool to use; ear plugs or ear-muffs are recommended. If you are right-handed and have a sufficient air supply, this will be a great addition to your shop. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I used my new Campbell Hausfeld Reversible Drill for the first time today. I installed a swivel quick connect air fitting in the handle of the drill. The use of a swivel fitting allows some relief of stress and weight of the air hose to help with accuracy in locating the tip of the drill bit. I then lubricated the drill thru the air fitting. The instructions say to lubricate the drill with a teaspoon of oil while pulling the trigger, since I don't have a teaspoon in the shop I poured about 10 drops of oil into the air inlet. I used air tool oil from Home Depot (Part# HDA10800AV). The drill is variable speed and the speed is controlled by the trigger position. I’m right handed so the location of the reverse switch is handy and works smoothly with the thumb. If you are left handed the index finger will have to be used. To try out the drill I grabbed a piece of 1/8” plate I had laying around and drilled a 3/16 inch hole through the plate. I set the regulator on my compressor to 90 psig. With the drill detached from the air hose I put a 3/16 inch bit in the keyless chuck tightened it down on the bit. The flutes on the keyless chuck allow for a good grip and easy tightening of the drill bit in the chuck. With the bit installed I hooked up the air and drilled a hole in the plate. When the drill bit was about ready to drill through the metal the drill stalled. I pulled the drill bit up a little and hit the trigger and pushed the bit against the plate and completed the hole. I think the drill is intended for light gage steel or aluminum. The drill is comfortable to hold and work with. The rubber anti slip pads on the handle secures the in drill in your hand. Hearing protection (the drill motor has a high pitch whine) and eye protection are definitely a must. The drill can also be used for honing, reaming, wire-brushing and small disc sanding. I would recommend this product to a friend. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
