Assembly was easy, the only change we made was to add a couple large washers to the two front bolts that hold the seats to the threaded support. This tilted the seat back slightly and fixed the feeling that we were slipping off the metal seats. Being metal, these stools are a bit cold when you first sit on them.

The only drawback I've encountered is that the base would be very hard on the floor if I didn't still have it sitting on a layer of cardboard from the box it arrived in while I decide on a more permanent solution (hence the 4 star rating, rather than 5). I do recommend this tractor seat stool.

Hello, The stool is Powder Coated and can be used outdoor. Please note the item is weather resistant but not weather proof. Proper care should be used to maintain the item.

does the seat swivel?

Hello Mark yes the seat swivels but this is what allows the seat to adjust in height. We recommend once you have reached the desired height you use the locking swivel mechanism to lock the stool in place. this makes the stool more stable.
