Its pretty easy to use and you dont lose precious headroom. My only concern is with home depot's policy of only selling it in kits. I needed 7 1/2 kits. I called the store and was told I cant return the unused portion of a kit. There were not enough cross tees in the kits for my install so i had to order more of those. I found ways to use up some of the leftovers in closets but Im still left with 9 full length pieces that will go in the garbage. In my view this is very poor corporate environmental responsibility for home depot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent, but... The product itself is excellent if a little flimsy. That said, it is more than sturdy enough to hold up ceiling tiles. I used fibreglass tiles which are very flexible. I imagine more solid tile would be a chore to install. Now for the "but"... The product is relatively expensive which is compounded by the fact that you have to buy it by the 100 sq ft. If your area is 301 sq ft you have to buy 4 boxes. On top of that, the shape of the room dictates which item you need the most of. A 10x10 room requires totally different parts than a 5x20 room (Odd shape I know but just making a point). I would be far more inclined to recommend this product and/or buy it again if it could be purchased in a more conventional way (like regular suspended ceiling parts). I ended up with a lot of waste which is totally useless.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cross Tees and product integrity could be improved Watched the online video. Looks really easy. Reality is that you need to be careful as the product is flimsy. Don't drive your mounting screws hard. Lightly snug them or you will deflect the material. When your cross piece encounters a joist when 16" centers interact with a 24" field you must trim off the crest of the cross pieces with tin snips for clearance. This slows you down. I was afraid that the acoustical tiles I bought would be too heavy for this system but they seem to be staying up. Not much is holding them up. I don't like the marketing 64 sq and 100 sq feet only. So much material is wasted. Cost is also excessive for plastic. I needed to center light fixtures on tiles which slowed down my planning phase. I don't believe that it will be easy to take the system apart as the snap pieces lock in at 90 degrees. I do not see how they can be removed without damage to the system.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leftovers in the box The product worked well; however, if you purchase the amount of the kit suggested as required for your ceiling, a large amount of the kit ends up wasted, resulting in apparently unnecessary expense. I ended up with several boxes of unusable kit on a 700 sq. ft area. That's not acceptable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ceiling Max I ordered the ceiling max system cause of the simplicity of the system and that it mounts right flush with the floor joists.It installed very easy. I used 1X3 boards to run across the floor joists first and found this helped to give a better base for the tracks. I followed the instructions on laying out the room and it went quick and easy. My only complaint was there seem to not be enough “ Cross Tees and lots of material left over. Mostly boarder pieces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great ceiling tile mounting system The system works just as advertised and went together according to the instructions. Only small point is the piece that mounts to the beam does not have any pilot holes and when trying to screw them in over your head it was a bit tricky. The planning guide was very good in helping shape the pattern and centering the grid to avoid having small tiles on one side of the room and larger on the other.

Installation was completed by a contractor accustomed to installing suspended ceilings, and he didn't have any problems. The runners appear to latch together solidly, and the appearance of the finished product is excellent. Because I chose 2' x 2' tiles, all cross-tees were used and I have a lot of runners and edge-strips left over. Home Depot could address this by offering additional cross-tees for sale.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to Install, Nice Results Pro’s: Product is very easy to install, just align the screw-on-strips with the parallel counterparts, so the notches lign up perfectly. Con’s: Depending on your room layout, you may end up with lots of unusable pieces, and short of other pieces. Meaning, you’ll need to go out and purchase another kit for a few pieces. If you have a square/rectangular shaped layout, your in luck. If you have bulk heads, or alcoves, be prepared to purchase more kits and have lots if left over pieces. Home Depot should sell individual pieces, especially the long tracks.

Hi, I have bought 2' x 2' LED Panels. Would these panel work with your system?

Not without some playing around. It’s really made for a 2x4 tile and if you install it without suspension, you have to make sure it fits between joist. But you may be able to work around it.

Can this system be installed where the ceiling contains air register vents?

I'm interested in the zero clearnece suspended ceiling tile kit my one question is how easy is it to unsnap it if you need to remove a tile to get at electrical or plumbing issues?

It's pretty easy, once you get the hang of it. Sometimes it can be a little stubborn, if I run into a spot that won't pop out easy I just use two hammers with the claw ends and hook them on each side of the track and give it a little tug and it pops out no problem with no damage. It's an amazing product. So easy to install and looks clean.

Is there a video showing how to remove a tile once the ceiling is finished?

Not that i am aware of. But it’s really easy. You just pull on the clipped cross bars, they unclip and you remove the tile.

If I’m installing flush mount lights how do I do it with this system. Just lower the light somehow??

I installed flush mount LED lights which a small LED driver box which the lamp plugged in to. I mounted the LED driver box in the joists and connected the wiring before installing the ceiling. I spaced lights so that lights would be between joists. As I got to the ceiling tile that required the light, I cut the proper hole size for the light. I installed the ceiling tile in position, reached through the hole to grasp the short connecting wire between the LED Driver box and the lamp, and plugged it in. Then I inserted the LED lamp in the hole. The lights I used were puck-like LEDs. They are about 1 inch thick, and have two springs clips which hold them up in the ceiling tile when installed.

What is the maximum thickness of tile that can fit in the grid while installed? For example, will a 0.2" thick tile fit with a 0.8" thick piece of Soniguard insulation?
