Rated 5 out of 5 by from Proven Suspended Ceiling Solution I used this system 30 years ago and it still works as well now. Installation is quick and simple. I am old and slow but can get a 12 x 14 room done in not much more than half a day. Depending on the number of weird angles and how much tile cutting is involved that could end up being a full day. If the tiles are rigid then you need to have 1.5-3 inches space between the ceiling joists and the top of the suspension system in order to get the tiles in, and be careful about planning how you do that. This will take up somewhere between 3 and 5 inches of height depending, but the result is worth it. With flexible tiles the main T-bars can go tight to the joists and fitting the tiles is much easier, but in my opinion the look is not quite as nice. Disassembly for fixing mistakes or doing repairs is more difficult than putting it together, especially with limited clearances, so plan properly and use care to do it right the first time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great suspended ceiling makeover... Easy to install.... looks great! Remember that if you are replacing an older 2by4 grid with a 2x2 tile set - there may be slight variances in the dimensions - depending on the original installation. In other words the 2x2 tiles might not fit exactly as designed in the vacant 2x4 space - but they still look good. Because of their shape it will be more difficult to adapt them to odd shapes (at the edge of a ceiling - you may need to buy flat edging tiles that you can cut to size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tiles I love these tiles. They are smooth and have a simple, modern aesthetic. They have some flexibility so are easy to install. They are also easy to cut to size - just score and break.

I would like to know can these be used all-round the ceiling I going to use 12x12 tiles that interlock with each other that staples to the strapping nailed to the floor joist

Asked by: Dave59
I am sorry the photo identification quite clear’ Is it the L shape  or the T shape   If it’s the L braket you install it all around the room you are outing in. Then you install T bar bracket gromacross the romfrom Lbracket to Lbracket and to the space of tile that is 24 inch and then your tea bar going cross the other way between tiles 24 x 24. The long tea bar is held up to the choice with wire. I’m not sure about your stabling don’t think it’ll work or maybe I misunderstanding the question altogether but I know why would you want to staple it because when you put a drop ceiling, it always gives you removable tiles that you can fix any sort of plumbing, electrical or what have you so I don’t know if this helps or not

Can these hang a drapery system?

I'd love to separate two rooms and I need a product that I can attach to the ceiling that can support the weight of curtains and possibly allow the curtains to slide open and close.

Can these cross tees be cut to size for old build, non-standard width? Basement hallway is 41" wide rather than 48". Looking for a solution or product recommendation if they cannot be cut.

Asked by: Kristina
In a drywalled ceiling area of my basement I needed to create a ceiling access to some plumbing. I nailed or screwed the ties/rails to a wood frame I created then hung the ceiling tile from there. I used a fine hack saw but still made the ends a bit rough and bent as the metal is fairly thin and flexible. Also once cut you are removing parts which are normally used to connect or cross other tees. In the end I was satisfied with the result. Test a cut for fit and finish. See if the cut end can be secured. You will need something solid to hold the piece steady while cutting. From a total amateur.

will the DXL 24 main tees and radar 2110 tiles give a 45 min. fire rating?

Asked by: Devin
Technically it is flame spread - not FireRated as in retardant- after 45 minutes the flame spread qualities are gone.

Can these be used in a bathroom installation?

Asked by: Flynny
We just received this question, and it may be too late for your project, but we felt posting an answer may help others. The grid can be installed in bathrooms, but if high moisture is a factor then proper ventilation must be provided, or upgrade to a commercial grade product for high moisture areas.
