The material is particle board with dark gray laminate.This is from the ClosetMaid Style+ series so it works with other cabinets and shelves in this system. The kit comes with a wall shelf cabinet and all the hardware you need. Installation is quite easy but the material does tend to chip around screw holes. The cabinet needs reinforcement at the corners to keep it straight. Overall an okay solution for closet storage needs.

It was very easy to put together and instructions are easy to follow. The boards are on the heavy side so they will need to be pretty secure when you put them up. The quality seems good and hopefully will last for years. Boards are a nice size for storing larger items. Putting the top shelf and hanging shelf in my laundry room to give it an instant upgrade.

Top unit connects to bottom unit with a single peg on each side. Wall anchors provide obviously insufficient for weight of typical wardrobe. Corner supports are 1/16" thick cardboard triangles. Drawer hardware not same as main unit and barely enough. Back of drawers are unfinished. If it falls apart when I put in my clothes I will not be too shy to return it!!

This shelf has a light to a dark wood grain that gives it an old rustic look. Personally I do like to have shelves thicker to be able to handle more weight and I do like the look of thicker shelves with a nice edge instead of just a square edge.

I wanted to replace it with something inexpensive but that looked nice. I bought 3 shelf systems, the top shelves and 3 hanging bars. I was able to put it all together and install it all myself in under a day.

Luckily, due to the size of the shelves that I needed (roughly 21” each) I didn’t have to use the two (of 5) that arrived damaged. The boxes were fine, but one had deep gouges in it and one was cracked nearly in half.

Yes it does depending on the blade you use to cut with. If you want a nice finish use a finishing blade on a table saw or a skill saw.

the first picture shows an unfinished end, but subsequent pictures show finished ends. Which is it?

There is only one "finished end" on the front (1 of 4 sides). Both the “back” and left & right sides are raw particleboard. We are working to correct the images online.
