Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great light, beware of condesation Bought this solar tube to add light to a bathroom with no windows. The installation was relatively straight forward, and I had the extra light add-on and the dimmer panel as well. For my installation, the roof was quite steep and the flashing could not be positioned to allow the dome to be perfectly flat. This also meant I had to trim the tube at the top to fit the angle of the flashing. Light level was fantastic, completely illuminating the bathroom even on less than sunny days. The bad part, however, was the condensation issues. During the first winter, condensation would form along the inside of the length of the tube that was uninsulated in the attic. This would result in so much water running down the sides of the tube that the lower dome would fill with water in only a few days. I ended up leaving the dome off the bottom for the remainder of the winter and mopping up the resulting condensation. To resolve the condensation, I added insulation around the entire length of the tube in the attic, and filled the upper flashing with expanding foam insulation. I also added a gasket between the lower dome and the fastener ring. With all these mods, I've had no condensation issues so far this winter. Consider these extra expenses if you live in a colder climate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly reccomend I was already doing my shingles, so it was the perfect time to add features through the roof. We put a 10" tube in the bathroom (approx. 50sq.ft) that has no natural light at all... now we don't have to turn the light on during the day when in the bathroom!! Easy to install, under 2 hours.. the hardest part was crawling in the attic n clearing away the blown in insulation. (wore a dust mask) My only regret is not putting more tubes in other areas of the house while I had total freedom due to lack of shingles....
