The Commercial Electric Color Temperature Select Recessed Lighting Kits are the recessed lights of the future. Each fixture is designed specifically for small spaces where height clearance is limited, you can change the color temperature with integrated switch. The integrated color changing switch is located outside the driver so you can choose between a 2700, 3000, 3500, 4000 or 5000 Kelvin temperature to best suit your needs. Energy Star certified, and IC rated for direct contact with insulation. It lasts for years to come - 50 000 hours or approximately 45 years if used for 3 hours per day to be exact. Wet rated and certified airtight, this 4" kit is perfect for your bathroom, drop ceilings, outdoor soffits, larger spaces and all general lighting applications.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product! After receiving the lights, I decided to install them outside around my house in the soffit. We have trees that block the street lights and therefore it’s quite dark around our home. These lights are a perfect fix for that! Installation was very easy and the look is fantastic! One minor issue I think they could easily change is that they don’t have the quick connectors. You have to use the wire nuts provided to connect all the wires together. While this isn’t a big issue, it would make installing easier and faster. Overall, this is a great product and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to “brighten up” the curb appeal of their home.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good lights but no extensions! I bought 14 of these for a basement reno. I installed the power supplies in a wall and extended the low voltage cables myself. This allows easy access to colour selection and I can easily re-locate the LED lights later on to improve overall lighting. Unfortunately in Ontario you're not allowed to cut and extend the cables and you can only use seller approved extension cables which HD does not have. Also technical support is non-existant since they only provide the phone# for the general HD call center which know nothing about the product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from LED Slim Recessed - Fast Insllation The Commercial Electric LED Slim Recessed downlight kit is a great option for anyone looking to quickly add pots. The slim panels are actually quite compact (~ 1/2" thick), making it great for tight spaces. The installation is very straight forward: 1. Mark the positions 2. Drill the holes (4") 3. Fish the wires 4. Connect the wires in the junction box, using the provided ferrules (however it would have been a lot nicer, and faster, had the manufacturer opted to provide the quick connect (push in) connectors) 5. Place the junction box inside the hole 6. Pull the butterfly clips back and push the light in The lights come with quite a few colour options (2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K, 5000K), almost guaranteed to match any decor/existing lighting; it would have been nice to have a 6000K/6500K option as well. The build quality is great, and the units feel solid; all metal construction (including the bezel). Each light outputs about 600Lumens, consuming 10W; about the equivalent light output to a 60W incandescent bulb; could it be brighter, sure; however it has a good spread to distribute the light nicely. Conclusion: Good buy, recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to install; high quality product The instructions that come with it are really easy to follow. - Would be better if the selector switch can be accessed from outside the metal box - Best feature: tab holding the spring is aluminum, not breakable plastic as some other products out there - the temperature feature is great and all the lights are consistent - Easy to wire and link together - Warm White 2700K, Soft White 3000K, Cool White 3500K, Bright White 4000K or Daylight 5000K. - And they are also dimmable and surprisingly very cool to the touch - The spring is nice and strong and holds the light tight against the drywall, ceiling tile 1/2” or ceiling tile 1/4” - for hole i used MaxTool 4-3/8" TCT Hole Saws 111mm Carbide asin: B079N7YMB9

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the colour adjustability Well made set of lights with an added bonus of fully adjustable light colour. I’ve used many different pot lights and many of them have cheaper thin metal junction boxes. This box even has a cleverly thought out slanted side to make it easier to get it in and out of the 4” hole in the ceiling. There were times you could just squeeze it in hole but if something went wrong you had a hard time getting it back out and would sometimes end up damaging the drywall - nice touch. The photos are my test setup and I like to setup and run them for a few days before committing to installing a bunch of them permanently. Since I’ve never used these before I’d rather be safe than sorry. So far so good!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Modernize your dated pot lights! Great replacement lighting solution for my bathroom/laundry room. Energy efficient, bright, dimmable, modern look. Install was quick and easy despite upgrading from dated 3 inch pots. Best features are the lack of can (easier to maneuver and install) and the 5 color options. I selected 2 different color options before landing on 3000K (soft white). Dry fit for size and don't be rough with the spring clips. I knocked one off on my first install but was able to put it clip it back on without issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exactly as advertised. Great Slimline Potlight Good quality pot light that delivered as promised. The packaging did not seem ideal. The wire going into the slim line housing itself was a bit bend beyond my preference. However all of the lights did still operate. The steel junction box has multiple inlet holes for wires that could be leading from any direction. The box did not have any grommets included (however this is normal as most others do not). The switch to change the brightness is located inside of the junction box and functions as described. Overall the product is a very good product and I would definitely recommend the purchase. The minor deficiencies described above are nothing to worry about but rather good to keep in the back of your mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent replacement light. Currently doing a basement Reno and needed to install 3 lights and replace one currently installed. These lights are low profile so the install was quite easy given the template and the space between the ceiling and floor joists that I had to work with. Connection to the existing wiring was straight forward as was replacing the current light with one new one. The install of these four lights in a room 8 x10 was more then sufficient and the ability to dim the led was a nice feature . I would recommend these for anyone who wants to remodel or has space limitations in their ceiling.

How high a space is required to insert the box into the 4" opening for the LED puck. Is a 1.5 inch gap sufficient? Can it be smaller?

1.5" gap is a bit tight. I would recommend at least 3.5-4" at the MIN. The box will slip into the drilled potlight hole at an angle which requires extra height

What size hole saw is required for these?

The hole diameter needs to be 4 1/16 inches for the light to fit through, but not more than 3/16" bigger than that or it will be too big and the light won't cover it.

Can these be installed on a sloped ceiling or sloped soffit or would you notice the light direction being unusual

Sloped ceiling works fine as long as it’s a fairly gentle Slope. Gimble/swivel type trims are best for really sloped ceilings. I think a sloped soffit would cast to hard on the siding.

Are these lights able to be turned on and off by a wall switch or do you need an app?

These are not "smart" lights. They can be controlled by a normal light switch (or dimmer switch), no app required. There is a small switch in the box that lets you select the colour of light (more blue vs more yellow).
