Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok in the wind This umbrella base is easy to fill (I used water, but you could also use dry sand). My only complaint is that my umbrella did pop our of the base with heavy winds...although it seams the securement device was untwisted slightly, so that may be my fault for not adjusting it again. Easy to move around as it does have a handle.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value for the money So far this base works well. It's decent quality for the price; easy to fill with water and doesn't take up a lot of space. My only complaint is that the adjustable pole base never tightens enough to keep the umbrella from turning in the breeze and you have to keep turning it back.

Might sound silly but how does one get wet sand into this stand. I filled mine with water but the wind blew it over.

    Asked by: Yipper
Dry sand would weigh it down considerably too (at full capacity the base would weigh 73 pounds when filled with dry sand) - in either case, pouring the sand down a funnel into the reservoir would probably the easiest way.

How much does base way full of water?

    Asked by: Mexican
They recommend adding 22 L or water or sand. 22 L of water = 22 kg water = 48 lbs water. If you use dry sand it has a density of 1.28 kg/L (per https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/density-materials-d_1652.html) so 22 L of dry sand = 28 kg = 62 lb. Fully wet sand is 1.92 kg/L so 22L would give 42 kg or 93 lbs.
