Rated 5 out of 5 by from a good standard grout I love this stuff. It is premixed to the perfect consistency. It is easy to use, dries well and doesn't crack. It is a nice resealable container, and will last for months closed without drying up. Once you use it, it is easy to clean once it is dried and nice and durable. I am an artist and use it frequently in mosaics, too. For the mosaics I do, sometimes I hand mix acrylic paint into this product to give it a tint. By doing this, I have never had a problem with it weakening the finished product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bright White Pre-Mixed Grout 3.9 L If you don’t want to mix and wait, this product might be for you. Keep in mind, because of its consistency, this grout is not easy to work with. It comes out premixed but a bit dry, which makes it very hard to apply. Ideally you want to work on very small area at a time. Otherwise the product dries even more and no longer sticks to the tile. Once you go over it with a wet sponge, the additional moisture makes things a bit better, but I noticed it leaves a rough surface if it is not smoothed over with a sponge. However if you go over it too many times, there is always a risk of removing too much grout, so you’ll have to fill the deep crevasses with fresh grout before it all settles. I found that I needed two of the 3.9 L buckets to do just one bath alcove. I didn’t use all of the product, but Home Depot doesn’t sell a smaller one if you run out. So overall I feel like I overpaid for something that could have cost me a lot less just because I didn’t want to mix my own grout. Next time I will avoid buying this product altogether. It’s not worth it in my personal opinion

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Will be the best for some, the worst for others. I had a hard time rating this product, because it has its advantages and disadvantages. Not unlike every item on the market today with its pro's and con's. The problem is those pros and cons can make this the best product in the world to some and the worst product in the world to others. Depending on the situation. I decided to give it 3 stars because though this grout works great for certain tiling jobs. There are more versatile and easier to use products out there. First off this grout comes premixed and that is definitely a good thing. Saves a lot of time and energy from mixing the stuff up outside. Then lugging it inside where you are laying the floor. Also you will notice it comes in a variety of different colors. Really nice and quite useful colors is I might add and on top of that they make a calking to match every color of grout. This is a sanded grout that doesn't just claim to resist shrinking. Another thing I noticed is that for sanded grout it works great in smaller grout lines such as 1/8 grout lines. Most sanded grouts do not compact very well into thinner grout lines, which leads to problems later, but I have used this in 1/8 grout lines with great success. Also I found that this grout glides under the float very nicely. The cons of this product is that it will leave a haze on porcelain tiles and the haze that it leaves is very hard to remove. I found this out when I used this stuff for the first time and allowed it to dry on the tile. I had to use a fiberglass abrasion tool attached to a drill to remove the haze from the tile with out ruining the tile. This problem can be remedied though. Keep a bucket of clean water and a grout sponge while. Grout a few lines then go back with you grout sponge and clean the lines up and any residue on the tile. Do not let this stuff dry on your tile. Especially porcelain. Also though this grout work for smaller 1/8 grout lines. Its very hard to use on vertical surfaces. You will have more grout on the floor than on the wall. It just does not stick to the float or wall very well. That is the case with most sanded grouts though, which is why they recommend unsanded grout for walls, but if the grout lines on your walls are larger than 1/8 you will have no other option but to use a sanded grout. If that is the case this stuff can be used. You just have to take your time. What I did is I would use a small putty knife to scoop the grout up and basically spackle it on to the float. This why I insured it stuck to the float and when applying to the grout lines on the wall you will just have to use more force than usual. Unlike premixed mortar which costs 3 times as much as bags of mortar you mix yourself. This premixed grout wont cost you very much more than the dry grout. Id recommend this product if you are grouting a ceramic tile floor with 1/8 grout lines or larger. I would not recommend it for grouting walls or any vertical surface. I also wouldn't recommend it for those who dont have a little extra time to clean up the grout lines and all the grout off the tiles as they go.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from warning We used this product the other day to grout a section of our backsplash as directed by the sales rep. A bit tricky to put on small areas had to use fingers. We were very disappointed when cleaning up as there is no warning on container regarding covering counters or sink. It took a lot of elbow grease to get the grayish stains off our black/gray/brown laminate counter top. It has left marks on our brand new Blanco cinder coloured composite sink which will not come off, the marks are small but we know they are there. We covered the rest of the counter after this. We only did small areas at a time so clean up was just minutes later. We were unaware that this stuff actually stains like this. It does say on the container that it contains no hazardous chemicals but does say avoid contact with eyes and prolonged contact with skin. As mentioned we had to use our bare fingers for short periods as the gloves just bunched up but washed thoroughly. We still have more grouting to finish and are going to tape and cover everything. We will use this product again for future jobs just thought we should let others know. Photo is taken days before we grouted.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Product looks good and works as advertised. This grout made our vinyl tile project very easy and my wife was pleased with the close comparison in looks to our ceramic tile flooring. Nearly everyone who sees the floor and wanted an option to cold ceramic flooring, wants to install one like ours now. Note to first time users: you will want to use the Adhesive Primer on your subfloor to make sure these things stay put.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Shortcut But.... Be sure to follow the instructions to the letter. EXCEPT waiting 4 hours to try to do a final cleanup. I went back after two hours and the grout was hard as a rock. I am not sure how I will ever clean it off. This was a mosaic tile circle in our entryway. As someone already said " is a fast drying product and they were not kidding.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product Used to regrout white tub surround tiles. Follow instructions closely since it dries much faster than mix your own grout. Does not spread easily so focus on pressing into joints and not spreading over the tile. Needs to be sponged very soon after application. Stir before use - container does not specify this but spec sheet does. Needs 3 day dry time before showering. This was confirmed with the manufacturer. Bright white is not as bright as a mix your own sanded grout and in my case has a greyish hue (looks fine with my tiles and accent tile colour). This grout is very grainy. Having said that I’m satisfied with the final result. I wanted the convenience of a premixed grout without the worry of messing up getting the right consistency of a mix your own grout. Has dried to a very hard finish so I expect it to hold up well but time will tell. I wish they would use a square pail which would make it easier to remove grout with the spreader.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good back splash grout Easy to work with. Best for walls like back splash or small places like powder room etc. Would not use for large floors. Not as durable as the stuff you mix yourself

Is this comparable to an epoxy grout, and with that said, how to you clean it off of tile immediately after application? ie: NEVER as in epoxy grout?

Asked by: Nancy
The answer from CB makes no sense - this product is clearly advertised as "can be used in wet areas" now the company is saying that can't be done? What is the real story, please?

can premixed grout be used over a wood subfloor

Asked by: jd
Hi there jd, I'll have to give you a yes and no answer on this because I'm not too sure we're on the same page with what this grout is used for. Yes, in that if you are putting tiles over a wood subfloor and you wish to use this as the grout between them. This is made to be able to flex nicely if you are doing either a ceramic/porcelain/stone tile or a groutable vinyl. No, if you are asking if you can spread this over a wood subfloor as an adhesive. If that is your intention, then you have the wrong product. You are instead looking for a thinset/mortar to use to adhere your tiles to. See the product linked below for what to use. - Jay

The grout left a thin film residue on the floor tile and on the metal edge. It is impossible to remove without a LOT of scrubbing. This is unlike any grout I have used before where a simple wet sponge would clean everything. Is there a product that will make the task possible?
Asked by: PDXguy
Using acetone worked, but still requires quite a bit of scrubbing. Will avoid this product in the future because of the challenge in clean up.

Should this product be stirred before using?  The instructions on the container doesn’t mention this but the product spec sheet on line does.  Thanks.

Asked by: Rolley
Please stir the product! My husband did not and the resulting effect was that there was some clearly white grout, and some grout areas that looked only sandy. That and make sure to follow the directions exactly when it comes to applying and washing, do not do more area than specified or you'll be scrubbing off excess grout for literal hours.

I’m regrouting my bathroom tile walls. I find the grout to be quite dry and difficult to spread compared to mix your own grouts.  Is it ok to add a bit of water to improve the consistency or will this affect the grout’s strength and colour?  Thx.

Asked by: Rolley
We would not recommend diluting the SimpleGrout Pre-Mixed Grout with water. For further assistance please contact us at 1 800 282 8786 option 2.
