Rated 5 out of 5 by from Polyblend Grout was Easy to Use I used the Polyblend bright white grout for both the mosaic and porcelain tiles in my first DIY shower installation. The grout was easy to mix using a mixing tool attached to my electric drill. Non-sanded was chosen because spacing was 1/8 inch or less. Tiles were applied to walls and ceiling and non-sanded used on those surfaces. The product mixes to a nice lump free consistency and spreads smoothly. Clean up of excess was easy as the product does not dry too quickly. The product was also used with mosaic and marble pencil molding from Home Depot to create a backsplash above the bathroom vanity.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No colour match I spent a long time looking at all 41 samples to find the closest match to my newly tiled floor. Chose #172 Urban Putty. Had to order it on line since that particular color is not stocked in store. Application was fine but it does not come even close to the color of the chip on the outside of the packaging. I wanted something beige and it dried WHITE. I now have a beige floor with a white checkerboard pattern in it. Now I have to scrape it out and do it over or find a way to color over it to get the look I want. If I re grout I will definitely use a different product since I cannot trust this brand to match its color samples. Never again.

I used Polyblend #381 non-sanded grout last week to regrout a shower floor. The grout is easy to mix with a drill. Pour the grout into your water; don't pour water into your grout. Mixing took about 10 minutes, and the ratio of grout to water in the instructions resulted in smooth, creamy, lumpless grout that stuck were I need it to stick. The Bright White looks great with the brown tiles. You can see the dramatic improvement in appearance in the photos below. Custom Building Products customer support was also responsive an helpful; they told me that I could mist water onto the grout 3 or 4 times a day for the 1st 3 days and that I should wait 4 more days before sealing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, really made our shower colored glass accent tile stand out We recently remodeled our bathroom and designed an vertical glass accent tile into our shower wall. We used Bone colored unsanded grout on the wall tiles and switched to bright white unsanded grout on the accent with great results. It is easy to mix with water and apply with a rubber grout float and didn't scratch the glass tiles. Clean up is easy however I do recommend working in small areas since if the grout dries in hot temperatures, it can be a pain to remove. We use a QEP brand grouting sponge from Home Depot which also has a microfiber cloth on one side and this works like a charm for removing the heavy grout and also the grout haze without ripping out the freshly applied grout. Once dry we sealed the tile and the grout with CBP's Aqua Mix water based tile sealer to help prevent hard water spots in our shower.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Good For Dark Grouts I wanted a black or dark charcoal grout, but the 'Charcoal' is a medium gray after it dries. It did look great wet, but that did not last and I had to laboriously remove all the grout. I bought Laticrete Black elsewhere as that is a true black grout (I used it successfully in the past on another floor). Lesson painfully learned. FYI: The lighter color grouts are probably fine, but the Charcoal and DeLorean Gray are way too light. The Delorean Gray is more of a pearl gray, almost white. Be forewarned?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tricky To Work With For a DIYer of my caliber, non-sanded grout can be a bit tricky to work with. By far, the worst feeling with this stuff is leaving thinking the job is going well and coming back the next day to find cracks in your lines. Here is what I learned from my experience: Trying to mix in smaller batches than the entire bag is not very reliable. It's difficult to get the correct mixture, and I'm not sure if this is due to my inability to divide correctly or if the mixture isn't entirely homogenous within the bag. Have everything you want to grout ready and mix the whole bag. If you follow the directions on the back of the box, you should be good. Push the grout in with a float and always start and end in the same direction going along your lines. You don't want to fight with bubbles in the middle of the job. You do need to employ a little strength at this point to get the grout filled in. Keep your sponge SLIGHTLY wet. Water should not be pouring out of the sponge when you press it against a hard surface, but it should be slightly damp to the touch. Finally, and probably most importantly, play the waiting game when it comes to sponge time. I found that the best time for me to sponge the grout was when I could apply a little pressure when sponging and the grout was set enough that the line eventually became distinguishable, but there might be some grout remnant on top of the tile. Don't sacrifice the grout line for the grout left on top of tile--you can scrape that off, you don't want to weaken the grout line with excessive sponging. And if too much grout is coming off while you sponge, go back and sponge some lines you put on earlier... or continue to wait, this set time along with proper mixture are the cruxes of the job--it's all about controlling the moisture.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy it for the color If you're looking for grout, this is good grout. If you're looking for something to match the color on the front of the package, buy something else. I labored for a long time trying to match the color of the grout to my tile and settled on Urban Putty as a very close match I prepared it per the instructions and applied it properly but it dried WHITE. Ultimately I had to purchase a bottle of Custom Grout Colorant and Sealant and it was a perfect color match. Had to tape the tile grooves and apply it with a toothbrush but the end result was exactly what I wanted originally.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, easy-to-use product Because I detest big, fat grout joints in tile that I've spent a lot of money on, I decided to lay my beautiful 12 x 24" marble-looking (special order, of course) tile with 1/8" (or less) grout joints. The man at Home Depot recommended this unsanded grout for the skinny joints. I had never used unsanded grout, and was amazed at how easily it spread with a float. Cleanup with quick and easy, too, and the final product is gorgeous! I used this product in my new (larger) closet and in my bath/shower area.

Can i use this product on wall tile?

Asked by: Jen
Yes Jen but as long as the grout joint does not exceed 1/8" in width. A better option in my experience is to go with the Prism grout. Its from the same brand Polyblend but is more consistant in color and you can use it on floor and wall applications. Thanks, Jon Evoy

can you go over old grout with this product

No. It is never a good idea to grout over grout. There is no bonding quality. You must remove the old grout. It will not stay.

If the grout isn't quite perfect, can I go over the top of it with another coat of grout?
Asked by: Jason
Yes you can go over it again. Just make sure that the surface is clean. If not, scrub clean first then apply the grout. Fortunately color variation with white is very minimal. Just mix, wait ten minutes, re mix, spread and clean.

What is the maxium width of a grout line? Can this be used with 1/4" grout line?

Tiles are 18 x 18.
Asked by: Woody
Grout lines generally should be no wider than the thickness of the tile. Non-sanded grout for 1/8" and smaller, sanded grout for anything wider than 1/8"

Should I use a sealer when mixing the grout to avoid staining?
Asked by: seanM
You don’t mix sealer with the grout. You use a sealer over the tile/stone and grout after it has dried and set.
