Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible product Very thick and difficult to spread. Does not adhere well at all, imagine trying to tile with Play-Dough, as that is exactly what this stuff is like. We gave up when there was half a can left and went and bought a bag of conventional thinset. Still wet after 48h, which is the cure time on the container causing several broken tiles that I now have to replace. That half a can covered about 4 square feet before we gave up on it, assume 1/10th the listed coverage area. I will be attempting to return the half empty can just out of sheer remorse for buying this garbage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worked Great I had glass tile backsplash ( 3" x 12" Nordic ice from home depot) put on in my kitchen this week and this product worked fine. This was recommended by 2 home depot employees on separate occasions. Our installer (not from home depot) said he would have preferred the mixed type of mortar but he had no issues with putting this on the wall. My backsplash was finished being tiled around 8:30 pm and the installer was back at 9 am to do the grouting with no issues. I would say however it is more expensive. I did a 37 sq ft space and I needed 3 containers of it to complete. I was a little worried after reading reviews on different websites for this product but I think people aren't reading the specifications correctly. (more issues with putting this on the floor and correct drying times) It's not really meant for flooring and the they recommend the largest tile to be a 8" x 8" for proper drying time. Anything larger obviously takes more time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy this product My husband and I are very experienced renovators. We have flipped many homes, and have done custom tile work on both floors and showers in most of them. When purchasing thin set for a current project, due to the way Home Depot had the products displayed, it looked like this product was all they had in stock. This thin set product is horrible to apply to a vertical surface. It has far too much air in the product itself, and thereby does not adhere to the wall, just falls off your trowel. It has the look and feel of that "fluff" stuff kids like to play with - you know, kind of like playdoh, but not quite as dense. Both my husband and I came up with some brand new combinations of expletives as we tried to work with it. The worst part is, this morning, a full day after doing the tile work, the tiles are falling off the wall as I remove my spacer system! Really? Not worth the money, or the promised convenience. My husband is at Home Depot this morning buying brand new thin set to redo all the work we did yesterday. I'm taking pictures and taking the almost empty pail of Simple Set back to Home Depot for a full refund. SKIP this product - ask the Home Depot sales person where to find the regular, mix it yourself thin set.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Run away, terrible product I bought this to finish a project and rewarded myself with the premixed. Placed it on a Sunday morning and waited till Tuesday evening to remove the spacers and prep for grout. To my horror it had not set and I ended up having to remove the entire section. One week later when scraping the remnants off there are still soft sections. Absolute garbage.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a substitute Do not use this as a short cut substitute for real thinset, especially on a floor. The only place this stuff might be ok for is a non-glass back splash. Wait 48 hours before grout...this stuff does not set, it dries.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not use Would not use again. After i was told it was ok to use it did not dry after a full week i had to pull up and redo floor tile with bagged cement based mortar.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage , Stay away from it I installed shower tiles with it , it never dried, after 2 months my shower floor tiles were moved and grout fall apart , when I took tiles off , it was same wet {never dried } that i put 2 months , even not 1% dried . save your expensive investment . bring regular bag and mix it and use that .

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Misleading labels, extremely long cure time I had bought this product to complete a small tiling project, approximately 16 square feet. The product label says 25-35 square foot coverage for a 1/4"×3/8"×1/4" square notch trowel with a 1 gallon tub of product (25 is greater than 16 so I figured I had way more than enough mortar). My last row of tiles has poor/insufficient coverage because I did not have enough mortar to fully complete the job. In looking online I found the data sheet for this product and it suggests a coverage area of closer to 14 square feet. If I would have know this ahead of time (or hadn't been mislead by the packaging labels), I would have bought another tub or an entirely different product. Now I will likely need to pull up my tiles, clean my backerboard and tiles then re-tile. Long cure time, bad product information; I would not recommend this brand.
