Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fan never shuts off These units never shut off, the fan runs continuously. Your customer service 1-800 experts are wrong when they say the units shut off the fan when the desired humidity level is reached. The compressor shuts off, the fan never stops. You should make this plain in the instructions/description.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Short Life Span! We bought it 2 years ago. Worked for 2 summers. Plugged it in this year and got EC error code (code of death) $300 for 6 months use... ridiculous. Danby customer service was no help what so ever .. don’t not buy

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not long lasting This unit worked well the first year we had it to pull humidity out of our loft in the winter. After about a year, we found the "tank full" indicator would not clear after we dumped the water collection tank. We could work around that by drying the internal spout out and leaving it for a few hours to air dry, but now it won't clear the P2 (tank full) indicator, no matter how long we leave it. I'll need to replace the unit and I'm going to look for something that's more long lasting and less failure-prone than this one!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped working! I bought a Danby dehumidifier from Home Depot last spring. Worked alright, though very finiky. Then a six months or so, it just stopped sucking water out of the air. Which is bad for a dehumidifier. Called Danby: I had to haul it to a repair depot to be assessed, maybe repaired. Then drive there and back to pick it up. Not a viable option given the distances involved. So it sits a piece of junk in the basement... I'll never buy another Danby product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy Our third dehumidifier in 6 years, the other two just stopped working. This one works very well, removing the condensation in a north facing bedroom in our west coast house. Powerful, I just run it for an hour or so in the morning and evening, when morning showers and evening cooking builds up humidity. So far, 3 months in, its great

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good Bought back in September 2018. Works great at removing humidity. My basement smells so much better. No musty smell at all. Has a timer feature so you can set the run time. I attached a small hose to drain and don’t have to worry about emptying bucket.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very quiet Very happy with this humidifier. We had Danby that lasted for years, so we had no hesitation to buy another when the time came.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I'll never buy another Danby, ever I had a 60 pint Danby dehumidifier that developed a refrigerant leak after 5 years. I chalked it to bad luck and bought this Danby Premier 70 pint, as repairing these units aren't cost effective. It worked very well for 2 years and 9 months, and guess what? Another refrigerant leak. Of course it lasted the warranty period, and that's it. Danby does acknowledge it's short life, but won't do anything about it. The dehumidifier sat in a clean and dry basement. It never worked that hard, and it's not an overly big house either. Quality control for Danby in it's Chinese factories is lacking. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER DANBY.........EVER.

The unit was running on the smart setting all night. Woke to find the bucket at about 10% filled. Why would this be the case considering it was running, therefore moisture is present and that it can remove up to 70 pints per day? Is the unit faulty??

Asked by: Carl
Hello Carl, we recommend you to set the unit at 35% and let it run for 24 hours in a damp area. If the problem persists, please contact us at 1800-263-2629 or via email at consumerservice@danby.com

Does the external outlet need anything special in order for the water to be redirect to it? I have a garden hose attached to the external outlet but the water bucket still fills up all the way overnight causing the dehumidifier to turn off (full bucket).

Asked by: Yoyo
Hello Yoyo, the main reason why the hose does not drain properly is due to the length, please make sure it is under 5 feet long.

Does this model have a pump? We don't have a floor drain in the basement.

Asked by: Emilia
Hello Emilia, this model does not have a pump, however, you can always drain it manually by removing the water bucket.

We would like to use for our walk in closet where we hang all of our clothes to dry. The closet is not ventilated. The closet becomes very damp and musty smelling. Would this help and promote the drying of clothes?

Asked by: Dave T
Hello Dave, this model can work in an enclosed area, however please note the room may be a few degrees warmer.
