Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would Recommend I have a bachelor unit that is about 400 square, keeps it cool, would recommend for small spaces. Works well, I use it without the hose and empty it when it gets full, I have not had to empty it too much, I only use it on really hot days.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just okay Works alright, a lot weaker than I expected. Very noisy, jerks around hard when switching between cooling and fan modes when the thermostat is happy with the temp. Easy to set up. Uses lots of power.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I would stay away from Danby The unit itself is ok but I would avoid Danby as their customer service is awful. My unit came with a broken piece and was told I had to deal directly with Danby for replacement parts. I emailed my issue and after 12 days had no response so I called. The part I need is currently not available in Canada or the US and not expected until later in September. I won't need an AC unit in September and now have nothing for the hottest stretch of the summer. Not having replacement parts for an AC unit in the summer, good planning! I'll have no choice but to buy another unit but it will not be a Danby.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great cooling machine. A great A/C unit. Easy to set up and Install. I like this unit better than my previous 2 units from other companies.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not ideal The reach of cool air from this device is minimal. It does not even cool my small bedroom. Also, the window attachment is unstable and has needed to be reinstalled multiple times.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does not turn off autommatically. When powered on and target temperature selected, the fan and compressor runs until target temperature is reached. The compressor turns off but not the fan. The fan is continuous and so there is continuous noise! Probably around 45 decibels. I assumed both the fan and compressor would turn off automatically!

Is this unit usable without venting to the outside? My old units had no external vent, just a large removable water container that slid out the back. And if in a patio sliding door, how is the door locked? Thanks

    Asked by: Chiroken
Hello Thank you for your question. When using the DPA080B7WDB portable air conditioner in air conditioning mode it needs to be vented outside through either a window or patio door. This allows for the cold air to come into the room and the warm moist air to vent outside. There is a security bracket that comes with the unit which works with both the window and patio door. Can I set up this air conditioning unit in a sliding glass door?

    Asked by: Ryan36
Hello, Thank you for your question. The portable air conditioner comes with a window slider kit that consists of several pieces. One piece has a hole in it for the exhaust hose as well as solid pieces that slide into each other and the piece with the hole. These pieces can expand to fit the vertical height of a patio door and is held in place by closing the patio door as well as several plastic screws that keep the pieces from collapsing into each other. Is this unit energy star compliant? How is this unit drained; do you hook up a hose and does it have a tray that can be removed and emptied?

    Asked by: OrcaBC
Hello, Thank you for your question. The DPA080B7WDB does not have an Energy Efficiency Verification. There is no removable drain tray however the internal reservoir holds approximately 2 cups and can be drained by placing a small container under the drain. You can also place the unit in a bathtub to drain if required. Please note that in air conditioning mode the unit will self-evaporate a portion of the water through the exhaust hose and will only require emptying on occasion. Regards Ann H Consumer Service
