Danby customer service and warranty department is in no hurry to take care of me and very slow at responding to my inquiries. Run away! Do not buy a Danby!

I have it in my basement set on smart dehumidify and in 2 days it brought the humidity down from 74 to 52 percent. It has maintained this for over 3 weeks now. I have the pump function on and the water is run into a floor drain. At around 2 weeks the clean filter light came on. It was easy to remove the filter screen for maintenance. I was able to vacuum it out with no problems. I put the screen cover back in and pressed the button and unit started right up. I am very pleased with the unit and would recommend it to anyone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, bad, or ugly? The big Danby unit has been working hard all summer in our Ontario brick farmhouse. It has a lot of humidity moisture to remove and is working in tandem with a legacy Danby unit that is in the unfinished basement. Why 3 stars? The unit removes moisture, no doubt about that. The water bucket has to be emptied twice a day, sometimes three times. There is a drain hose and a pump to manage water but I chose to recycle the water for winter humidifying or other purposes and it is more convenient to manually empty. However, removing the bucket is not simple. The unit is on wheels and it will roll about as the bucket is pulled out. There is a warning sticker about the pump hose falling down and preventing the bucket from going back in. Yes, the hose drops down every time and is a real nuisance. If you bump the machine when trying to slide the bucket in the hose will drop down. The bucket is part of the front of the machine and so it has an aesthetic design rather than being a big water container. You bump the machine every time you slide the bucket in place. It is probably going to break sooner than the tough old bucket in the early machines. The unit has frozen up once and it did not shut down or give a warning, it just creaked and cracked and groaned until I shut it off to let it thaw. Not a great scheme. The fan is noisy. Yes, it is moving a lot of air but it could be better designed and have genuinely variable speed. When it shuts off the silence is golden! Other reviews mention the timer feature, which does not really manage the unit over a long period. However, if you unplug the machine and then reconnect, it will start again with the previous settings. I have a timer circuit for the basement unit and intend to add the new one so it runs at off peak electricity times. It would have been better if the design of the timer did this for you every day rather than just once. It has a 3 year warranty. That is great and the main reason I bought the Danby unit. Read the reviews on other stores and other manufacturers. Dehumidifiers seem to have reached the point where they are disposable. I hope this one bucks that trend; it certainly beat the summer humidity this year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sucks the water right out of the air This machine certainly sucks the water out of the air quickly. The fan is not quiet, but that it simply because it is moving so much air. The continuous drain hose on the back works well. My one criticism would be that when the unit is timed to switch off, the fan does not switch off - it really should.

I have found that most last only 1-2 years and then fail. This unit lasted less than one year and cost far more than most other units I previously purchased. I bought this one primarily because of it's capacity and two year warranty. I now need to see if the warranty is any good as the service centers listed on the Danby site are very few and far between. My unit started to show "E3" error codes (Sensor Malfunction) between 10-11 months into ownership. After unplugging and re-plugging in, the unit would run for a few days before stopping with another E3 code error. Lately, although it still resets with power off/on it gets an "EC" error code (Cooling System error or sensor error). Only the fan seems to run and no warm air comes out of the unit exhaust which indicates it's no longer gathering humidity. Checking my calibrated Hygrometer confirms it isn't lowering the humidity to 45% which is what I had set. Actual humidity is currently 55%. Needless to say, I'm really disappointed with this unit. For the first few months I got good performance but, for the price, I expected to get much more than a year of service.

What would the settings be for the humidity level? What are the graduations? Ex. 30-70% at 10% for each level change.

    Asked by: ChWiggum
Hello, Thank you for your question. The DDR095BDPWDB can be set for as low as 35% humidity to as high as 85% humidity and can be adjusted in increments of 5%. The unit requires a difference of minimum 5% higher than the setting before it will commence dehumidifying and will stop dehumidifying within 5% below the setting. Regards Ann H Consumer Service
