Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect After making my home significantly more energy efficient, moisture became an issue. So, I switched out the regular switch with a "timer" switch in the main bathroom. It improved the situation. However, if the timer wasn't set sufficiently long enough, moisture was still a problem. So I added the decora humidity sensor. Now, the fan is controlled by both the timer and humidity sensor. I now have ZERO problems with moisture. The downside is that the humidity sensor may "randomly" go on for a few minutes occasionally... however, that is what the sensor is supposed to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it, would definitely recommend I had this installed by an electrician when I had all of my outlets and switches updated. I lowered the sensitivity of the humidity so that it turns on by itself if I forget to. I set it for 30 minutes so that covers a shower and a bit afterwards to remove the moisture. I've had to lower the humidity sensor to find the right setting. Now it goes off when it gets to 60%. I have a humidity meter right above the sensor so I know that it is at an accurate sensitivity. one con.... I agree with a couple of other reviewers that the plate seems flimsy and I would be afraid to snap it if I had to make more than a few adjustments. I've found the perfect balance after 3 adjustments, and I'm glad I didn't break the cover.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly as advertised. Great Been using this now for 5 weeks in my renovated bathroom. Perfect!! Easy to install, really. Uses existing wiring on a retrofit. No modifications needed. Just as simple on a rewire. Works like a charm. Programmable to meet just about any need but I found the factory setting perfect for my application. From the package to working fan in less than 15 minutes. If your fan is working well this is all you need to make it humidity sensitive, or as a timer (both actually). If you need a new fan, this work perfectly too. Truly, this was the best value of all the reno parts I bought for the new bathroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent performance I have been using this in a bathroom for several years because no one would ever turn the fan on. It has performed very well and I am glad it continues to work. I am renovating another bathroom and have already purchased a new one for that.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Got a lemon This sensor switch I got must be defective. The sensor detects humidity when there is none. It's winter in the Okanagan and the barometer reads Very Dry. Yet this sensor will toggle the fan on constantly, even though I have turned Sensitivity all the way down and the Humidistat all the way up. Not only that, but the Timer setting is in its default position, "10 minutes", yet I have not yet seen it cycle itself off after 15+ minutes of operation. The whole thing must be pooched. I'm going to try returning it to home depot, if that doesn't work I'll check with Leviton. We have a DewStop in the other bathroom and it works perfectly fine. I am hoping since I couldn't find another one of those, I can find a replacement for this Leviton switch that actually works. If so I will update my review. Otherwise, I recommend the DewStop version.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Humidity Sensor not working? Easy to install. The automatic on/off works fine. The air cycle mode works fine too. I'm not sure the automatic on/off with set humidity points work. I have a humidity sensor set up in the crawl space in which the wireless monitor shows 60 or more %rh...I've set the set point to approx 50 but the fan does not seem to go on. Not sure if it is a defective unit or not!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Useful and helpful Easy to install and the default setting works great to clear the bathroom of mists and fog whenever it’s needed. No need to remember to turn on the fan now; just wish it could detect odours too.

I'd like this to be set to turn on automatically when humidity is detected, but is there a way to manually turn it on as well when there's no humidity?

Asked by: Bob28
There is a button in center of switch you just push to turn on, can set running time in controls

At what humidity does the switch turn on. I am wondering if I can use it in the basement for turning my dehumidifier on and off?

Asked by: wanderer
You can set the humidity setting yourself during the initial setup. You may also change it afterwards by remove the faceplate. Keep the instructions that comes with it as there is a specific setup setting you have to use to have it operate the way you wanted it to.

I've read the manual. If the set point triggers (humidistat + high sensitivity) the fan will come on for the set interval, say 45 minutes. If the humidity is sustained, how long before the humidistat can turn the fan back on for another cycle?

Asked by: A Canuckian engineer
Thank you Leviton rep, but my question assumed that the fan was turned on because the humidity was high. But the X minutes (assuming the maximum of 45) is *insufficient* to get the humidity low enough. After X minutes, it will turn the fan off. But given that the humidity is still high, will it *immediately* start another cycle for X minutes, or is there a delay before it goes again? Put another way: In your answer, you said the fan will run for X minutes until the RH is less than the setting. But if X minutes is not enough, will it *ignore* the X minutes and keep running all day if the RH is still high? Or will it shut off, then start again after some sort of delay? Thank you

Will this work for apartment dehumidifying system?  There is an old Ranco manual relative humidity control in place. Can the level of humidity be set instead of time?

Asked by: Aotm
No, our Decora Humidity Sensor is not designed for this type of application, it will not detect a slow rise in the relative humidity level only sudden rises like somebody taking a shower to activate the fan.
