Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works Fine, but app is missing obvious features. Purchased and installed product about 4-5 months ago. Deadbolt works well - it locks and unlocks as expected either manually, or using the keypad or app. Data communication between Hubspace app, AC receptacle, and deadbolt is solid. The Hubspace app, however, is missing two basic features. It doesn't track PINs and it can't schedule the deadbolt. The app logs deadbolt activity (when & how it's locked or unlocked), but it doesn't log who unlocked it, (which PIN was used). It can set up a schedule for the associated AC receptacle to turn on and off, but it can't lock/unlock the deadbolt on a schedule, e.g., lock at bedtime each night.

With downloadable app, this deadbolt is set up is a few minutes. Nice feature is that is has an adjustable delay auto-lock. It can have 10 different user pin numbers to tell who is coming and going. Also comes with Wi-Fi Certified Smart Plug hub. Easy installation replaces any existing deadbolt in minutes. Key pad is not raised buttons, but a flat key pad. "Fat Finger" issues may be a problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are a must I bought this lock today because it has Wi-Fi, something I needed to monitor my home with and didn't have it on my Wiser smart lock. Comparing the quality and construction of wiser it seemed more of the next step for home security, but this lock is decent and you can't go wrong with the price I paid for. The only downside is that I couldn't find any instructions on how to program the keypad, even checked the instruction YouTube video. I will call customer service in the morning and why couldn't you throw 4xAA's batteries in the box. The reason I bought this is because I see Home Depot behind the name of the product and I shop because of the great customer service. What's the return policy on this product?

I’m not super techy and yes I my wifi network is password protected, but I’m still not comfortable with someone being able to unlock my door if they hack my network. Other than that, the lock works great with the code and i like to color and square design. It’s also nice that it has a back up key

The numberpad on lock didn't work consistently - ended up returning for another product. Hoping of these tech features are resolved in a future release because the product seems very promising.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing I installed and mechanically it worked perfectly, but stopped working about 30 seconds later. You have to sync the lock to the app on the phone. Initially it went great, with the lock opening and closing during the set up process as it should. But after that..... zip. Firstly the app goes into ten minutes plus of nothing. Zip. Then it would open, but not close. Tried EVERYTHING. Unload app, reload, re-sync, reboot phone, for 2 hours of fruitless frustration. I returned it for a better product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Easy Install and Setup Mechanical Issues and Loud The installation and setup with Wi-Fi, Alexa & Smarthub app was easy and 35 min going slowly. The issue I have is mechanical, the lock doesn't open or close smoothly, it hangs up and has to be forced about halfway through when turning the lock manually or with a key. The lock does function using a code or turning the lock with the app but it sounds like it's struggling and going to break. The mechanics are very loud and has a loud beep that hurts my dogs ears when I use it electronically.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cannot calibrate lock for depth of bolt hole I’ve used Schlage and Yale smart locks; both are good but cost more. Schlage’s will realize the bolt is thrown, even if not fully extended; this lock won’t. This is a problem because I have an iron door with an iron frame, and the hole for the deadbolt is about 1/4” too short. Unless I drill a 1” diameter hole through my iron frame, the app thinks the door is unlocked when locked via the app (even though it recognizes the door is locked when I throw the bolt shut manually, grrr!).

What's the purpose of having multiple pins if the activity doesn't tell you which pin locked/unlocked the door?

Hi Jasmin, As of right now the Defiant Wi-Fi deadbolt will give you notifications when the lock is used through a phone or on the actual keypad, However it will not tell you what code was used to open the door. Any reports of the key pad freezing or not functioning in cold weather?

Hi Winnipeger, Our Defiant Hubspace Square Matte Black Wi-Fi Deadbolt has been rated as ANSI Grade 3. This means that our product should function mechanically and electronically within a temperature range of -35 C to 66 C (-31 F to 150 F). The only issue you may possibly run into is the output voltage from the batteries. Colder conditions can affect voltage output and this unit will require 1.37 volts per AA battery for proper operation. We would suggest you research the temperature range for the power supply you intend to use as well. Thank you for your question.
