Can you wet shim behind this to provide a flat surface for wall tile when the framing is not perfectly flat (ie with wood framing)?

Asked by: Devin
anynameisgood123, We do not recommend wet shimming DensShield. You may certainly use wood shims.

Concrete shower floor needs repairing/levelling, does it matter if it is done after DensShield is installed for walls or should floor be repaired first? How much of a gap should there be between concrete floor and DensShield? Floor and walls will be tiled

Asked by: Wolf
Wolf, We recommend leaving a 1/8 gap, filled with 100% silicone to prevent water from wicking into the board. It is at your discretion as too which application you install or repair first.

Going to use this to mount brick veneer around a fireplace. Reading through the materials and specs seems it would be fine. Would you recommend otherwise?

Asked by: Sam Van
DensShield® Tile Backer is intended for use with tiles set with modified thin set. It has not been evaluated for use with brick or thin brick set with Portland cement mortar.

Is this ok to use as a backer for tiling around a gas fireplace? I can't find the DensGlass product in stock so am wondering if this is ok for a gas fireplace application. Thanks in advance.
