Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unhappy with my 3 previous purchases of different brands, did some research & settle on the Dewalt. What I like: 1. It has a factory-installed quick disconnect. Just plug in my air hose which is already connected to my air tool, & I am ready to go. 2. The drain valve at the bottom of the air tank has a lever-type control. Fully close & open is only 1/4 turn which eliminates guess work re how much to turn to close or open. 3. Noise level of the pump/motor is much lower than my previous compressors. 4. This is personal preference, I like the bright yellow colour with black lettering. Area which require improvement: 1. The wheels should be larger so that the air tank has more ground clearance which means anyone with larger hands can gain access to the drain valve easier

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Compressor I had purchased this for many purposes and presently I am using this along with my framing gun to frame my basement. I get many shots out of my gun till it kicks back in. The model listed here in the website isn't accurate as there is a Canadian version with slightly less HP at 1.6. None the less, I am very pleased with this purchase and remember to break it in prior to usage. I did the break in period for 25mins and have had no issues whatsoever. Overall, quality is great! the Yellow looks pleasant, the way it is set up is perfect and the easy quick connect is something i like.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what it seems... Has anyone tested this compressor with proper equipment? If not, here are the facts. Compressor was bought in 2012 March, 1. The specs are wrong, it's not 1.8 Hp, but 1.6 Hp. 2. CFM flow is not 5.4, but 5.0 3. Regulator is horrefic. It massively restricts air. For example; on 3/8 hose, 50 foot lenght, psi drop, as tested, was 40 PSI !!! Running a IR 1/2 inch impact (5 cfm running) , regulator had to be set at 130 PSI to see 90 PSI under load at the gun. Only connectors are at the compressor and gun, and 3/8 - 50 foot lenght hose will only see 0.4 drop in cfm. I also tested this on 3/8 IR air ratched (uses 3 cfm) and it was about the same, less than 4 psi difference. Hose is brand new and I have absolute minimum connectors (2). Gun is in top condition, air ratchet is brand new. Tested with brand new oil filled pressure gauge (0-200 psi). Absolutely no air leaks in the system, checked using soap method. This only points to very restrictive regulator. Usually very cheap unit. This compressor might be 5 SCFM, but unfortunately can't flow to deliver. It's ok for pumping up tires, running small caulking gun, maybe small nailer, but that's all it's good for.

I am looking to purchase the DeWALT 1.8 HP Continuous, 200 PSI, 15 Gallon Workshop Compressor Model: D55168. All the paint guns have a rating at 40 psi and 90 psi. What is the SCFM rating at 40 psi? I am looking for the Canadian numbers.

Doesn't quite reach 200psi.

Hi, I've had this compressor for over a year with light home usage for a couple of motorcycle painting jobs. I've noticed it doesn't reach 200psi on fill, more like 190. And if I leave it full (know I shouldn't but we all do), it loses pressure over 2 days but I can hear any air escaping. Is this typical?

Mine reaches 210 PSI. You could be losing pressure thru the pump. You gotta remember this is oil-less compressor. They usualy use Teflon coating on the cylinder walls and other components as dry lubricant. Once this wears out, compressor becomes a boat anchor.

Is this compressor good with Abrasive blasters running continues for an hour? I might only need an air pressure of 80psi for my blaster cleaning up some 3D printed plastic parts.
