Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy Snips! I purchased this set of snips to replace an old set from another brand that had broken after years of use. Although the old set of snips did the job, they had a "loose" feeling that always made it a little more difficult when cutting sheet metal. With these DeWalt snips, I immediately noticed how the various parts were tightly fitted together and how "sturdy" they felt. This makes a noticeable difference when cutting sheet metal as compared to what I was used to. These DeWalt snips cut the metal effortlessly and their sturdiness makes it easy to make tight and precise cuts. I definitely recommend these!

It's always good to get your maximum worth out of a tool. The lanyard hole in the back of the top handle is quite hefty. -Did I mention these things are SHARP? I cut through what I believe was 32 gauge or thicker standard duct metal, and they went through with minimal effort, though these are advertised to work up to 22 or even 18 gauge metal. However, If I had to cut something that thick, I would simply use a cut-off wheel. Now, I'm not sure how DeWalt engineered these, but the reduction in squeezing pressure is magnificent! The ergonomic handles only add to how comfortable these are to work with. If I had to cut all day with these and were a pole-builder or metal worker, I certainly wouldn't overlook them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've managed with an inexpensive set for decades and like my pickup truck wish I'd bought it decades earlier. The are quality snips with grips formed to naturally fit your fingers on one side and thumb on the other which make them easy to operate. The tools have color coded handles - green (right), yellow (straight), and red (left). Each has a solid locking latch. The tool comes with a lifetime warranty. The only improvement I can think of is to get something similar to a wood chisel apron so you can roll them up in a handy set.

These left hand shears have a very good mechanical advantage that makes cutting easier than a conventional set of shears. I have used these on the 20 gauge sheetmetal I use to do patch panels on my street rod project and they went through it like butter. I highly recommend these shears and I also highly recommend you purchase a right and left hand set if you do a lot of sheetmetal work like me. It seems redundant but if you cut irregular shapes with inside and outside curves the right and lefts are a must and the price is very reasonable.

The blades are set at the proper angle for a clean left cut that enables the user to create smooth arcs in sheet metal. The handle has a good solid comfortable grip that is designed for lefties and righties. The spring mechanism is well designed for a return to open position when you finish your initial cut and those that follow. I would recommend the product the amateur and pro alike.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These aviation snips are DeWalt which is really all you need to know. I have never had a problem with a DeWait tool, powered or non-powered. The handles are well-made and comfortable with a finger hold. The tool is all metal except for the handles. It has two pivot points that seem to make it easier to operate. Jaws are nice and sharp. I used it on an HVAC duct-work project and it did a nice job. Easy to control and comfortable to use all day.

When cutting the end of copper, brass, aluminum, tin, or sheet metal it is good to know which one you are using on sight before picking it up. This is because the mechanism works differently on different snips. Think of them as right and left handed scissors. If you are cutting the end off of a piece of ductwork and have a nearby obstacle you may need either a right or a left hand snip to allow you clearance. You need to remember that the snips cannot cut heavy duty items. Think of it like using a pair of scissors to cut a double-wall cardboard box. A snip is not always the right tool for the job. If you use them for cutting wire it will damage them and make the edges rough on anything you cut in the future.
