Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply: THE BEST [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this table saw last summer and it is not just the best job-site table saw I have ever used....it is the best, most well thought out tool of any kind that I have ever owned. It is astonishing to me that other brands have not copied this fence design. It is SOOOOO easy and sooooo accurate. I have had cheaper table saws, and I have seen more expensive saws (such as the Bosch model within the same price range (about $100 more, actually). But how it is that this type of fence is not an industry standard is baffling to me. I have, within the past year switched over to all DEWALT power tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Setup, great saw I bought this after reviewing several table saws. Working alone I had it assembled in under an hour, and it was almost perfectly set up right out of the box. I had to make one extremely small tweak in the fence alignment and another in the splitter. The latter was a little bit confusing as the instructions and photos were not perfectly clear, but once I started adjusting I could see what to do. First crosscuts were right on the money and the first test rip was perfect. The rip fence scale is right on the money. I am very happy that I made this choice. The miter gauge seemed to be the one weak link, but even that proved to be accurate when I used it.

Just got it delivered and before even setting it up, I took a straight edge across the top. It fairly flat until the metal edge moved 3" into the cutting edge. Then there was a 1/16" dip from there to the back of the throat. Chatted with Dewalt and they claim that 1/16" variance on the top is within design tolerance. I guess I now have to haul this over to a local HD and see if I can replace it with one that has a flatter top otherwise it'll be a full return. I know there are some buyers who got flat tops, I guess I'm just not one of them & FWIW, any table saw with a 1/16" dip in the top at the blade is just not safe in my opinion not to mention useless.

Good: The fence is accurate and smooth, blade guard and dust collection works well. More than enough HP to cut through thick hardwood plywood and smooth with a full dado stack. So-so-: the table top size without any extensions that I am aware of is too small for larger stock Bad: The miter is small and woefully in-adequate. And, at full extension, the support arm causes binding with stocking Overall: build yourself a table saw sled and a miter sled and this is actually a pretty good saw with those jigs to help. Haven't done so yet, but will also build infeed and outfeed support arms to address table size/no-extension limitations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One thing missing - I have been using this saw fro a few months now. I love it. Fence is always dead on accurate and so fast to set up its amazing how well thought out everything is. JUST ONE THING MISSING. Electronic power switching keeps you from plugging in a saw that already has the power on. This means you can not lock it in the on position to power it from a power strip that also powers the dust collection. I use a shop vac that just sits under the saw but its a bit annoying to have to feel around for the switch on the vac. I like the electronic power switch, its a no-brainer safety thing, but why not include an aux plug that is powered by the same switch so my vac starts when I power the saw.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Play in blade arbor shaft. Just purchased this saw and made several cuts. I noticed that the arbor shaft has a significant amount of play in it. I can hold the blade an move it to the left and right and feel the loose tolerance in the arbor shaft bearings. The arbor nut is locked tight on the blade, the play is in the shaft / bearings. This is really disappointing for a brand new saw right out of the box. I have a Delta miter saw and table saw which have been used for years with absolutely no wobble or play in the blade. Looks like a quality problem, I am hoping Dewalt can resolve this issue as the saw appears to be very well thought out with many features.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A great saw; but... This saw comes with excellent reviews; and most of it is really excellent, at least at first use! I have only had the saw for a couple of weeks. It assembles easily and really does fold and store in a minimal space. My impression of its functionality is good. I made some vanity drawers very easily and quite precisely; BUT the mitre guage is truly terrible; even for cross cuts it is imprecise and useless. Why spoil an otherwise excellent product with a real piece of junk? Apart from this I would give it a 5, and am now trying to fiugre out how to make a decent replacement for the mitre guage.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Major Flaw [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used the saw for a flooring project and worked great. I then used it to build a table top and noticed something was off. I went back to the table saw and checked it for square to the table top and this is where the problem lies. The actual aluminum fence is twisted. To double check, I took the fence apart and laid just the aluminum extrusion piece on a flat surface and this confirmed that it was twisted and therefore impossible to make accurate cuts. If you want a saw for anything more than rough construction, do not buy this one.

can saw be bought without stand

Asked by: rickvrod
The DW745 is a different model, which is proven because it only has a 20" rip capacity. The model number of the saw without the table is DWE7490. I learned this by going to Dewalt web site for the DWE7491RS and then scrolled down to the 2 Installation Manual links in the Warranty and Service Information section. One link (the top one) is for the saw only and the other for only the table. However, when you search for that model currently DeWalt's site shows this as discontinued.

I am interested in the saw for my father. How hard /heavy is it to take it from folded and stored to standing upright.

Asked by: Fccrunch
it is very easy to stand up from the folded posit., just unfold the legs and stand it up, not much strength required.

Is it simple to take the saw off of the stand.
Asked by: Bill
Bill, I'm not sure why would you want to remove it? The whole set up is great, it's portable, sturdy and works quite well as intended. If you are wanting to place the saw into a more permanent setting, just buy the saw without the stand... But if for some unknown reason you feel the need to separate this nice setup, sure it's "simple". Unlike brain surgery...

How does this saw handle when pulling up and down stairs

setup and take down
Asked by: 0Schmidt
It handles very well. I will say though, that it is a bit awkward for me. Being 6'4" the handle is a little short for me on stairs. My friend who generally helps me is 5'5" and she has no problem with it at all.

how level is the top this table from side to side and corner to corner

how level is the top this table from side to side and corner to corner
Asked by: ron
People are assuming the question is about how "level" (parallel to the ground) the saw is; it's not. The question is how true the top is-- is it dead flat across the entire top. Aluminum tops can warp slightly, meaning one corner or side might be slightly higher than another. This can effect precision cuts since it means a panel that spans the top might not be perfectly flat relative to the blade. Doesn't do any good to adjust a blade to a perfect 90º relative to the top immediately adjacent to the blade if that top is 1/16" higher 18" away.
