Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, Compact with power I wanted to get an entry level drill for DIYs around the house or building small things over the summer time and was debating between RYOBI and DEALT which was budget friendly. After reading lots of reviews and YouTube videos regarding this models compared to others, decided to purchase this and give it a shot. Works very well, has a good amount of speed as well as well compact motor for weight reduction to get into tight corners for back to be small. Overall, I am satisfied with this and it does it job when needed around the house. Battery life is good for normal use around house when needed to assemble something (full charge can go for a while). One thing I noticed is if you detach the battery after every use, they tend to last longer rather then leaving it on the drill. Carry one bag is handy as well. just invest into a 64 piece Bit Kit to make life easier :) SATISIFED, Will Recommend for DIY GURUS, worth the money.

Dewalt website says this is with variable speed. But Home Depot listed this as without variable speed. So which one is this?

The DCD794 cordless drill driver that I purchased from Home Depot as part of the DCD794D1 kit is definitely a variable speed drill. Home Depot Canada is wrong, but the US site has the proper information. As you say, the Dewalt website correctly identifies the drill as being variable speed.
