I can not believe how many times I have used this in the first two months since purchasing. So handy for all drilling and screwing needs. Also purchased the DEWALT mower so I have two nice 10 amp batteries to leverage for current and future DEWALT tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Total animal! I recently bought this because I was pushing my 20v compact drill beyond its limits and I was tired of dragging out a cord for my electric Dewalt drill. This Flexvolt Advantage drill is awesome. I had to drill some 4 1/2” holes for vents and this thing had no problem what so ever! It really is well designed. Low speed would be great for mixing, the torque is amazing. Mid speed is great for drilling and I think high speed would give you high bpm when using the hammer drill setting. The adjustable work light is the icing on the cake. Super helpful in low light situations. The longer handle is a welcome addition to help with the torque and it stays were you put it. The shorter handle on my electric drill always rotates a little when using a hole saw. To be honest I have only used it with a Flexvolt battery so I can not comment on its 20v performance. I will check back in after I have used it on a few more jobs. My initial impression is awesome and I am very happy I added it to my Dewalt collection!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and yet everything you'll want! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Finally got to use my new Cordless Hammer Drill and I can't tell you enough about how much better this tool worked compared to my old one. To start, the fact it is cordless was amazing for me. I was in the middle of a street where extension cords were not an option. The hanging clip made it easy to carry to and from the job site. The handle was easy to adjust and secure with just a few twists and didn't budge the whole time I was using it. All of the adjustments are simple and quick to make making this thing a breeze when using it for multiple tasks. There was plenty of power behind this thing I wasn't concerned it couldn't get the job done. It would get warm, but never hot enough that I thought it might overheat. Overall I am ecstatic to have this great tool in my collection now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power and Features in one package [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a smaller Dewalt drill already and have been very happy with it but I needed to drill some anchors in Concrete. This drill has the hammer feature I needed for this job and I am not disappointed. The drilling power and hammer impact make short work of the anchors. The Side handle gets a firm grip on the tool and allows much better control and support. I cannot stop without mentioning the chuck on this tool, talking about grip! The keyless chuck gets a hold of a bit and hangs on to it without slipping. I have also used this too to drill 7/16 holes through hardened steel with a cobalt drill bit to refloor a flatbed trailer. I am leaning pretty good on the top of the drill and it just cuts faster without bogging down. Adding in the clutch settings allowed me to use the tool to drive self drilling screws without stripping them. Strong motor, excellent Hammer power, the Best Keyless chuck I have used, clutch settings, variable speed, reversible, not heavy, great side handle, I am super happy with this tool.

How many pounds of torque does this have with a flexvolt battery? Trying to compare with my 18volt XRP hammer drill @ 450 lbs which still works great.
Asked by: Mark
Roughly 1200 inch-pounds, which is 100 ft-pounds. BTW, torque is measured not in pounds alone. It is a rotational force. The further you are out from the contact, the more torque you get applying with the same force. Hence, ft-lbs or inch-lbs.

Would a drill like this be capable of mixing a 5 gallon bucket of concrete from time to time? I want one beefy drill to solve a lot of problems at this price.
Asked by: Alexander
Obviously that is not the purpose of this tool. Why don't you try it and let us know? It's beefy. This tool is a beast. The DCD999 is the king of hammer drills short of Hilti.

Does this use a regular mason art drill bit or do you need a SDS bit?

Does this use a regular mason art drill bit or do you need a SDS bit?
Asked by: Brian
If you cannot find a standard round shaft masonry bit then the SDS should also hold inside the chuck. SDS stands for slotted drive system. The SDS tools and bits come in 2 sizes, plus and max. What you'll want to look for are the SDS plus bits as the max bits are too wide to fit. BTW, you can also find some masonry bits in the fastener section with the Tapcon fasteners.
