Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am amazed how well it works I had a 9" diameter pine tree come down in the last storm. I tried cutting it with a bow saw but the blade just bound in the green wood. I used to have gas saws but since retiring do not do enough to justify another. I have other DeWalt 20V tools so was attracted to the bare tool.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Built for the suburbs, unfortunately I live on about 3/4 of an acres, and had a lot of limbing to do. This little guy worked great when it worked, but unfortunately only lasted about 18 months. Not sure what the warranty is, but it will no longer operate...it simply clicks. Buyer beware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw! Really happy with this saw, which I own in addition to the Ryobi battery powered18v saw. One nice extra feature is the hand break, which the Ryobi does not have (at least, the model I bought a few years back). One battery was plenty take down and cut up a 25 foot tree that blew over at the cottage. Nowhere near as heavy as my gas Stihl, or as finicky to start/stop, but also not as powerful of course. But for my needs at the home and cottage, these battery models are great and significantly quieter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid unit for smaller trees, brush and yardwork A nice lightweight, compact saw. Great value, especially if you can get one on sale. It's now my primary saw for doing firewood, small brush, and medium trees that are already down; my 18" Stihl only comes out for the big stuff now. A couple of small complaints: it leaks oil slowly if you store it upright (they do mention this in passing in the manual, but who reads that!?) and the ultra-low-kickback chain gets annoying if you're cutting bigger stuff from both sides. Battery life is reasonable, but you'll probably want a pair of 3A or 4A batteries if you're doing anything other than yard work. Oh, and don't forget to buy chain oil and sharpening tools, since neither are included

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A little workhorse I have used this chainsaw to cut down trees from 10 cm to 45 cm and it has worked beautifully. Cut down and cut up 1/2 cord of wood in two days this week.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 20 Volt Max I originally purchased the 60 FlexVolt, for my new 2022 Skandic SWT and it cuts really good, but is a little long and hard to find a cover for it. The 20 volt although much slower, cuts ok and with extra 20V Dewalt batteries you'll have no problem removing a small tree blocking the trail. Because of its slower speed smaller tagalters are a pain to cut. I've used chainsaws most of my life and I currently have 4 gas saws. While it's not intended to cut firewood it is good for the ATV or Snowmobile. For that purpose, I would recommend this saw. I gave it a four star because of the tagalter problem

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Washer missing Before use put a rubber “O” ring on the oil filler cap. Was designed to have o ring there but dewalt decided to save a few Cents by leaving it off. The saw will leak non stop if you don’t do this. Once I fixed production mistake no more leaks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unreliable, and chain pops off way too much. They replaced the first chainsaw for a new one when the bar wheel in front jammed up. The second one now i had to bring in to the Milwaukee service center because it is unresponsive. Just dead. Battery is fine, tried it my hacksaw. I though electric would be reliable and no headache. The chainsaw is powerful enough to compare directly with 40cc gas. Battery is good enough for about 3 hours of work. Good for clearing smaller brush. If you are going for 50ft 10in tree... good luck. Wouldnt do that. Chain pops off a lot more than the gas chainsaws i've worked with.

Does it leak oil when not in use? There are complaints about this chainsaw that it leaks bar oil. I am going to keep it in my Jeep so it is very important that it will not leak.

Asked by: Nick
Yes, if there has been oil left in the chainsaw after use it will leak a little of the oil. This is normal. They use a gravity feed system; therefore a little leaking oil is very normal. It is not defective. Ticket #3001888

Will this run on a dewalt 20v 2amp battery like my wiper snipper and leaf blower?

Asked by: Artc
I would imagine so. I have 20v 3amp batteries (and 5amp) and the 3amp work fine. It just won't run for too too long if you use a 2amp, but that's fine if you're aware. It's a handy little tool to have around if you're cutting small stuff.

Looking at the Manual, I see that it says you should empty the bar oil after every use. Is that correct? that seems ridiculous. Thanks

Asked by: Mertrodraft
Hello Mertodraft Thank you for your contact. We apologize for any trouble or inconvenience in finding information. That is a correct statement. The system for the oil is gravity controlled. If the oil is left in the reservoir, then it will leak in a stationary position. It is advised to drain in a container so that the oil can be used at a later time. Best Regards Sherri C DEWALT
