Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am amazed how well it works I had a 9" diameter pine tree come down in the last storm. I tried cutting it with a bow saw but the blade just bound in the green wood. I used to have gas saws but since retiring do not do enough to justify another. I have other DeWalt 20V tools so was attracted to the bare tool.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works. Decent for the low price. But it really shouldn't be leaking oil when set on the one side. Designer decided to make the oil cap removable in half a turn rather than just your usual well-sealed screw cap. I even added a gasket and it still leaks with this poor design. Do not buy unless 60% off or more and then just never set it on that side. Also Home Depot is stupid; they couldn't hold it for me for a few days at sale price and their online pick-up ordering didn't work. Called the store and they were useless. So I shipped it to myself for when I got home; 15mins away. They door dashed it. I hope it costed them a pretty penny cause corporations like this suck.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works as expected but leaks chain oil badly Overall a nice design and decent power. Big and main issue is the chain oil reservoir leaks and I found out after purchasing that this is a known issue. Manual says leave the reservoir empty when not in use but that is not realistic to empty out this reservoir after every use. Lots of different opinions on how to fix it but it appears there is just multiple weak points in the plastic reservoir as well as the connection points to the tubing. Seems like there is a fix but it involved fill taking apart the unit and using sealant to cover all seams and joints. Annoying this issue has not been fixed by Dewalt.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Built for the suburbs, unfortunately I live on about 3/4 of an acres, and had a lot of limbing to do. This little guy worked great when it worked, but unfortunately only lasted about 18 months. Not sure what the warranty is, but it will no longer operate...it simply clicks. Buyer beware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw for small/medium sized jobs Needed to cut a 30’ tree down to make room for a new sidewalk. Already had the 20v batteries so went with this. It made short work of taking down the tree and slicing up the firewood and branches for composting. Yes it drips oil, that’s not a fault of the saw. As another reviewer mentioned store it on its side with the oil fill cap facing up and it’s all good. Pull back the hand guard all the way, a few inches to activate it. Don’t forget to buy some oil, it’s not included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A little workhorse I have used this chainsaw to cut down trees from 10 cm to 45 cm and it has worked beautifully. Cut down and cut up 1/2 cord of wood in two days this week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw! Really happy with this saw, which I own in addition to the Ryobi battery powered18v saw. One nice extra feature is the hand break, which the Ryobi does not have (at least, the model I bought a few years back). One battery was plenty take down and cut up a 25 foot tree that blew over at the cottage. Nowhere near as heavy as my gas Stihl, or as finicky to start/stop, but also not as powerful of course. But for my needs at the home and cottage, these battery models are great and significantly quieter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid unit for smaller trees, brush and yardwork A nice lightweight, compact saw. Great value, especially if you can get one on sale. It's now my primary saw for doing firewood, small brush, and medium trees that are already down; my 18" Stihl only comes out for the big stuff now. A couple of small complaints: it leaks oil slowly if you store it upright (they do mention this in passing in the manual, but who reads that!?) and the ultra-low-kickback chain gets annoying if you're cutting bigger stuff from both sides. Battery life is reasonable, but you'll probably want a pair of 3A or 4A batteries if you're doing anything other than yard work. Oh, and don't forget to buy chain oil and sharpening tools, since neither are included

Will this work with 20V MAX Atomic battery?

Asked by: Billbob
Can’t say for sure.  They look similar

Does it leak oil when not in use? There are complaints about this chainsaw that it leaks bar oil. I am going to keep it in my Jeep so it is very important that it will not leak.

Asked by: Nick
Yes, if there has been oil left in the chainsaw after use it will leak a little of the oil. This is normal. They use a gravity feed system; therefore a little leaking oil is very normal. It is not defective. Ticket #3001888

Has an o ring been installed on chainsaw oil cap

Asked by: Canuck42
We don't have an o ring on our chainsaw oil cap. That's a good question and we'll be contacting Dewalt to see if it's supposed to have one.

On the description says "Best used with Battery Models DCB205, DCB205G, DCB205CK or DCB205-2" means that with a Battery DeWalt DCB606 20/de max  LITHIM ION Flexvolt6 A cannot be used? Thanks.

Asked by: Greg
Thanks for your answer but I have doubts about it since I read this in one of the many questions asked:   HomeDepotCustomer 3 months ago  No this is a 20v saw, 60v would burn up the motor, I want to be sure since all my batteries are DCB606 I have 15 of this model thanks

Looking at the Manual, I see that it says you should empty the bar oil after every use. Is that correct? that seems ridiculous. Thanks

Asked by: Metrodraft
Hello Mertodraft Thank you for your contact. We apologize for any trouble or inconvenience in finding information. That is a correct statement. The system for the oil is gravity controlled. If the oil is left in the reservoir, then it will leak in a stationary position. It is advised to drain in a container so that the oil can be used at a later time. Best Regards Sherri C DEWALT
