Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good saw with some draw backs This is a really good pole saw especially for being battery powered. It cuts green limbs just fine and is fairly easy to use. The biggest issues are the same with any pole saw the head is heavy and it spits oil like crazy, these aren’t Dewalt issues. If you need a pole saw to trim some trees this is a really good saw. Make sure the extension connection is tight and store the head upright.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing I have dozens of Dewalt products. The pole saw is very disappointing. The chain does not stay on the guide and it is with great difficulty to get the chain on. The guide teeth on the chain are pointed in different directions rather than running in a straight line. Or is this the new way of chains? Returning it for another brand. Had been looking at the 60V flex and 20V chainsaw. Don’t think I’ll risk it.

Gets a little unwieldy with the extension in at full length but if you use a 5 ah battery it offsets the weight imbalance. ( The motor is in the head) The bigger battery also allows you to cut more. I went to town and cut for an hour or more and still had plenty of life in the battery. I did find the saw RPMs a bit low so it shredded the branches a bit at times.overall extremely impressed.

(other reviews) Realized tank was vented and stored it with tank level, no leakage. Only one slight problem is weight. It becomes slightly problematic to balance the saw while at the top of a 20 ft extension ladder. I believe that experience will cancel problem. Saw is highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GOOD UNIT A little top heavy like their folding trimmer but helps to fell/drop the branches. A lanyard to control the cutting end should be available. I am going to try and rig some thing up for this...the saw cuts nicely and does leak out the oil as does my DeWalt chain saw. Keep a couple plastic bags close by or get a couple cover bags from $store with a small bungee cord.

I’ve used it on branches from 1” to 7” thick with ease. Only issue is the weight of the unit when it is at full length. I have no problem but I could see it being heavy for some. One month later, I have everything working as it should. Pole saw works great, other than some of the larger frozen branches. I expect this won't be a problem in the spring.

Does this work with XR battery DCB203 ? thought 20V XR system was universal ? (different battreies kind of defeats that not a contractor, and have 3 batteries and a charger , minimal branch cutting annually so drawing down power not an issue ....

Yes, all DEWALT 20v batteries are compatible regardless of Amp hour. Higher amp hours will allow for a longer run time per charge.

Example DEWALT Bar & Chain Biodegradable Oil 32oz Model DXCC1201. Use a high-quality bar and chain oil for proper chain and bar lubrication. As a temporary substitute, a non-detergent SAE30 weight motor oil can be used.
