Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed Im a commercial metal framer and drywall installer. All of my tools are DeWalt. Recently my DeWalt brushless impact gun after 1 year started to lose power and I took it for repair. It’s been a month and haven’t got it back yet .And now after using this knife for less than a month I returned it. The blade’s adjustment screw didn’t tie up. Blade was sliding out by itself during cutting drywall. And finally stripped. If I keep seeing low quality from DeWalt I will switch to the other brands.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Spare Blades not Carbide, Awful Blade Movement This is the worst named-brand utility blade I've ever bought. As most reviewers have mentioned, the locking screw is scratchy but that I could live with. The more serious issue is that the blade tends to jam when one tries to extend it, even with the knob fully loosen. The only way to push it out more smoothly is to push at the TINY black plastic bit from the blade retention part behind the locking knob. Another totally unforgivable crime is that the 10 spare blades included in the package are NOT the same Carbide Edge blade pre-installed in the knife. This can be verified by the part number indented on the spare blades: The spare ones are 11-719 blades (the ordinary cheap type with no printed marks) and the pre-installed Carbide one in the knife is DWHT11918, with cool DeWALT and Carbide-Edge logos printed on it. This is dishonest marketing and is clearly intentional: The package says 11 blades, 88 cutting points up-front, without stating that they are 1-Carbide + 10-Cheap blades. Shameful for a reputable company to sell products this way.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Great I bought this utility believing it would be of usual DeWalt quality. I've used it for six months and wanted to leave a review of the pros and con. Pros: great for cutting thick material such as batt insulation, feels large and easy to hold in the hand, nice to have a wide blade for sturdiness while cutting. Cons: the ratchet wheel blade lock does remain locked for light work but blade does not remain locked when blade is under stress (pull) such as cutting a length of drywall. That is very annoying. And, for that reason I wouldn't recommend buying this knife. I have since bought the DeWalt Folding Retractable Utility Knife.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Snap off knife This was the first Dewalt product I purchased and it turned out to be of very poor quality. The screw threads have cut and don't fasten the blade and the plastic has developed a crack in it. I have used cheaper products which have lasted longer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful product... locking mechanism fails I bought this product in May and after adjusting the blades once the locking mechanism failed... consistent with the other four bad reviews of this product. Price has dropped 35% at Home Depot reflecting the products inferior quality and likelihood it won't last beyond a few turns of the dial. Home Depot wouldn't refund or exchange it either has I had the product for more than three months. Product is a poor reflection on both Dewalt and Home Depot and should be taken off the shelves.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Locking mechanism fail! I bought this thinking I am guaranteed quality with DeWalt. Unfortunately, after changing the FIRST blade, the dial locking mechanism is now stuck in lock position. It spins without loosening the hold. I don't recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from didn't last a month I bought this knife a month ago and the dial no longer works. Dial to tighten down the blade in place just spins and spins. The blade does not stay in place and the ability to cut anything is diminished to nil.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pure Garbage Locking mechanism failed after 1 use session due to it being primarily made of plastic. Fine plastic powder was present when tool was dissembled. Milwaukee makes similar knives but the mechanism is primarily metal (knurled metal adjustment knob and wear surface). They don't fail.
