I purchased this through the online store in hopes of getting the one with the metal magnet holder as the plastic ones have a very short life span. However, the metal ones and plastic ones apparently have the same part number and I got the plastic on instead. The product performs as well as the other ones I have owned with the plastic magnet holder, but i was very disappointed that I received something different than the picture above.

I read a lot of negative reviews so I guess I got lucky or there's quality control problem. I like the fact that when you remove the yellow magnetic screw floater, you have a skinny bit holder underneath for tight spaces. I just left the holder attached to a magnet for awhile so it can hold screws without the yellow attachment. Bits install quickly but you need to slide the bottom part to remove it. Just have to be ready to catch the bit because the spring is strong. I used the old magnetic bit holders that does not lock the bit, so this is an upgrade for me. It is hard to see the tip of the bit when the yellow screw floater is installed but I only leave it on for a different function. Over all, so far, 5 stars.

I needed a magnetic extension for my cordless drill and did not have time to shop around. Home Depot was out of stock on everything except this one from DeWalt. As usual, the #2 phillips tips which were included are great, but the DeWalt design is too bulky and gets in the way. The yellow part covers up too much of the tip and it will not allow the tip to access any screw with another object around it. I was able to rip the yellow part off and then the extension was great, but it lost the function I also wanted of being able to hold the tip while the extension spins freely inside. The product was expensive compared to other brands (which function as expected) and it was a disappointment. I wish I had gone to another store that had a selection.

The magnetic sleeve slides to the screw head when u place it on the bit and the magnet is very strong but it's made out of cheap pot metal and was completely shredded beyond repair after two days of normal use
