We turned it on prior to starting our in floor heating system this fall and the heater discharges the heat up instead of out and it actually melted the paint off the wall. We just replaced it with a baseboard that discharges the heat from the front.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice looking upgrade They heat up quickly And seem to be a good price but compared to older baseboards the metal is very thin. Weak plastic spacers to keep it away from the wall and floor. Work fine with older wall thermostats

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice look, heat well, install fairly easy w/ tips Nice looking unit, I put several of these in our home along with some smart thermostats. Only tested once, since it is still warm out here, but they seem to give off good heat and they do heat up quickly. Easy enough to install, although the brackets are a bit of a challenge, since you have to clip them in while fitting them up on the wall and put the screws in - they pop out fairly easily. I found easiest way to deal with this was to clip the brackets in behind, pre-thread all screws a few turns, then use shims underneath the baseboard while I lined up and screwed the unit in. This would prevent putting weight on the brackets and popping out. Also I used longer 3-inch floor screws to get past the gyprock and insulation to the wood behind, worked well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth it We had these installed in our condo. They are compact and attractively styled. That however is where the benefits end. They get extremely hot, to the point that they were burning the paint off of our window casings that are 8 inches above the units. They also get very hot internally. Thus constantly shutting off at high limit and then re starting. Frankly the older style baseboard heaters are a much better heater for the money. We just replaced 2 of these units with the stelpro b units and couldn't be happier other than we are replacing something we just replaced a year ago. And the other thing to keep in mind is that electric heat is already 100% efficient. Replacing baseboards will not save you money on heating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Electric baseboard heater Ensure you use the supplied plastic mounting brackets, don’t mount directly to the wall as the wall will overheat when heater is running. Good product, easy installation.

I was a little disspointed in finish quality, it looks like they got 90% on quality control and gave up. Fave plate was a little bent and it looked like the screws were painted with whiteout. But I'm about to buy another one so my heaters.

Is there a heat deflector that can sit on top of the heater to deflect the heat out? I have a desk over this wall heater and it seems to trap the heat that rises up making the wall hot.

Asked by: BonnieBeach
Good Day Bonnie, Unfortunately we do not have a deflector for these heater. Thank You Glen Dimplex Americas Customer Experience Team.

What is the difference between this item and the smart 1500w? I'm looking for a few if these however not sure which one to get.

Asked by: Frani
Good Morning Frani,The revolutionary design provides a sleek, compact heater profile, while improving heater performance, reducing energy consumption, and increased comfort. The LC has a specially-formulated, environmentally friendly epoxy/polyester powder coating finish that resists fading and abrasion for durability and a long life span. The LC is equipped with pre-stamped mounting holes for easy installation and a thermal overheat protection for safety. The general rule for electric heat is to use 10 watts of heat per square foot of space i.e. 1000 watt heater will heat 100 square feet (10’ x 10’) in a standard insulated room. To get an accurate measurement we recommend using our heat loss calculator. The Smart baseboard has the on board digital thermostat. Thank you.

what is meant by wireless in the case of your baseboard heaters? I need to buy many for new condo unit.

Asked by: Marc
Marc, Sorry for the confusion here. This heater is not wireless ready. If you're looking for something that is, this is the same heater with a built-in digital thermostat: https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.1500w-smart-baseboard---white.1000709639.html The one with the built-in thermostats can be controlled wirelessly with the Dimplex CX-MPC (https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.multi-zone-programmable-connex-controller.1000752698.html) or via WiFi and the CX-WIFI (https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.wi-fi-multi-zone-programmable-connex-controller.1000835388.html)

Our 30 yr old house has baseboard heaters installed under windows. I'd like to upgrade to newer/more efficient heaters. Would this product be appropriate for this application?

Asked by: MomBuilder
This is essentially what we did - replacing 25 year old heaters with new Dimplex ones. I'm very happy with the new units and had no trouble with the installation. They are more efficient in that the newer units are shorter in length while still emitting the same amount of heat as our older ones but they use the same amount of energy so I don't expect that our electricity usage will change.
