Rated 3 out of 5 by from smaller but louder We have just installed these heaters though out our main floor. they look amazing and take up less space and have already reduced the time that our heaters have to be on. At the same time if you are bothered by a constant buzzing noise then they might not be for you. every time they turn on they have a buzzing noise and if they are hovering around the temp you want to be they will turn off and on constantly with the same buzzing noise. I though at first it was just until they heated up but the noise has not stopped. I have not found this with the smaller units only the larger size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Efficient and quiet We bought 6 linear heaters of various sizes. Once installed they work very well. A couple of issues to note: When installing, the stand-offs are supposed to snap into the heater and keep it the right distance off the floor. They snap in but don't stay there, they pop out easily. Once you get a screw through they're fine. Also, the finish is nice everywhere except on the top on each end. There are 3 knock-out provisions (on each side) for adding a thermostat and they make the unit look unfinished. I may cover them with something, but the manufacturer should supply blank cover plates for a finished look.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth it We had these installed in our condo. They are compact and attractively styled. That however is where the benefits end. They get extremely hot, to the point that they were burning the paint off of our window casings that are 8 inches above the units. They also get very hot internally. Thus constantly shutting off at high limit and then re starting. Frankly the older style baseboard heaters are a much better heater for the money. We just replaced 2 of these units with the stelpro b units and couldn't be happier other than we are replacing something we just replaced a year ago. And the other thing to keep in mind is that electric heat is already 100% efficient. Replacing baseboards will not save you money on heating.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unreliable This unit does get very hot and did a good job for the first winter. Last week it started to cycle on and off following the high temperature limit switch and the room wouldn't reach the thermostat set-point. As mentioned by another revewer, the aluminum fins (and the whole heating assembly) is floating inside the casing and can rotate allowing the fins to touch the capillary of the high limit causing a premature opening of the circuit. It is a design flaw. I would not buy this particular design again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from noise complaint If you tighten the screws too much the unit cannot expand & contract without making noise. Use flat head sheet metal screws to attach to wall & then back off about a quarter turn (or as needed if the wall is crooked)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much better than radiant... Bought 1 of these with some trepidation after reading the manufacturer claims. Well, their claims are true. Firstly, the units are stylish. Secondly, they do heat much quicker than the equivalent radiant units and generate no noise whatsoever. Thirdly, their footprint is greatly reduced vs. the equivalent radiant heater - all manufacturer claims are correct in my experience. You can put your hand over one on the heaters and feel the convective flow going upwards - they will begin heating a room much quicker than radiant and go off sooner as well. As an engineer, I used to do heat and mass transfer calculations as well as insulation calculations for oil, gas and chemical plants - convective is by far more efficient than radiant heat...why I bought the unit in the first place. All in all, an excellent product. So much so, I bought a 2 more for my living room area. These 2 were daisy chained and controlled from a programmable thermostat (Honeywell RLV 4300, as was the initial unit I purchased). Work very well with this thermostat and no problems. Well done Dimplex and Home Depot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Choice As product states, heater has a higher than normal temperature. Because of this it comes with mounting brackets which mount the heater 3/4" away from wall leaving an ugly space between wall and heater. Also, the higher than normal heat coming out of the top destroys the paint on the walls above it creating unsightly line patterns where dividers are :(

Can you install thses baseboards without the 2 small brakets that offset it from the wall? they seem like they heat up a bit more than the old baseboards but should be fine without the brakets.

Asked by: Heaterguy
Good Day, You can install without the spacer kits the baseboards have been tested and approved without the spacer kits if you have concerns with the wall temperature please install the spacer kits. Thank You Glen Dimplex Americas Customer Service

Would these lend themselves to use with surface mounted wiring entering from either left or right sides?

Asked by: Teddy
Yes. They can be wired from either end. They work great too.

Our 30 yr old house has baseboard heaters installed under windows. I'd like to upgrade to newer/more efficient heaters. Would this product be appropriate for this application?

Asked by: MomBuilder
This is essentially what we did - replacing 25 year old heaters with new Dimplex ones. I'm very happy with the new units and had no trouble with the installation. They are more efficient in that the newer units are shorter in length while still emitting the same amount of heat as our older ones but they use the same amount of energy so I don't expect that our electricity usage will change.

Does this unit heat more effectively with the spacers? Or are the spacers just to protect the wall and paint from heat exposure?

Asked by: Stephen
The spacers are to protect the wall from the amazing amount of heat he heaters put out. I have a video on it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-X0WMfpwRgo

How many square feet does this heater warm up? Minimum / maximum?

Asked by: Bigjonstud
We recommend about 10 watts/square foot so this would heat about 100 square feet.

Can this model, or any of your models be wired for 120 volts on it's own circuit?

Asked by: jbelmira
It's just a resistive heater. Yes it can be wired with 120v, but you will only get 25% of the rated heat (250W from a 1000W baseboard).
