Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not what I expected Very frustrating system. I thought the wireless system would be so easy. You think the heaters are synced to the controller, however, the heaters don't follow the controller programs. Re-syncing doesn't seem to help. Half the time during the syncing process the controller changes to setting the time. Then you have to reset the time and then do the syncing process again. Heaters work great, but this controller is a pain in the butt. I have reviewed the instruction manual several times, but it doesn't offer anything other than basic instructions. Now at the point of just going around the rooms to turn the heaters down or up manually.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Impossible to synchronize Progamming is combursome but does work in the end. Synchronizing on the other hand is impossible. I have been trying on and off for over 2 weeks to no avail. I did send and email to connex but never got a reply. I follow the steps with the instuction manual in hand. 1. Press synchronize button 2 Select Zone (I only have 1) 3 Press V button on heater for 3 seconds 4 Press all 3 buttons on heater in sequence 5 Press synchronize button on thermostat again within 10 seconds. These are the steps in instruction manual but at step 5 it starts the whole process over again. My patience is wearing extremely thin. HELP anyone ! Thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product, people can't understand it. Long story short: The product is really good and deliveries what it promisses. It's a bit complicated to use and not really friendly, but once you get used to it it works perfectly. It's pratical, no cables to deal with and have a nice look. Full review: I always wanted to remote control all of my house's heaters using a single central unit, so when I read about this system I got really interested. Not having to deal with complexe wiring and all really got my attention. The multi zone design was exactly what I was looking for so I decided to give it a try. Just to test it I bought one LPC baseboard heater and this controller. I changed my bathroom heater yesterday and alread liked the built-in thermostat on the dimplex baseboard (my previous was kind of old and had that old button). A simple yet useful small LED with a mordern looking design. Then I started playing with the connex controller. I was tempted for the wifi one, but thinking twice I realized that once programmed my interaction with the control will be almost zero, so I don't need wifi connection; simple and temporary adjustements can be done manually on the controller, no need to do it from distance. I do confirm that it's not easy to setup the thing at the begining. The display is not intuitive, it has some fixed icons while others are touchable. It really lacks more info. The manual is also non-friendly with explanations too abstract and not enough images to guide the user through the setup process. Maybe because I'm used to decipher technology (geek speaking) I figured it out in less than the 90 minutes everybody else is complaining. I got my unity connected and working in like 15 minutes or so. Note: there's no indication nor confirmation when a heater is successfuly connected to the controller; once done the paring command I just knew it was connected when I tried changing the heater temperature from the controller - wich worked like a charm. I also read complaints about the touch screen, that is too hard and the input is bad. Yeah, in fact one must press a bit hard to porperly input the commands. Although I could do it with my fingers I prefered to use an stylus pen, it's more confortable, responsible and faster. Still I don't blame the company for this option since, like I said, the unity was made to be programmed once and eventually modified; it's not an smartphone to spend hours playing on its screen. My other concern was about the signal reach. In fact I bought just one heater to test this characteristic, I still plan to buy about 4 others to cover the entire house, but I woundn't do it before assuring the conrtoller can reach all rooms. I read that the reach is 15m (50ft), but it says nothing about obstructions, walls and doors. So once installed the heater (on the second floor) and connect it to the controller and took it as far as I could in the house and it kept the connection without a problem. Tried with the door closed, took it to the first floor, put it on the furthest corner of the house, near possible signal interferences (microwave, wifi router) and the unity as able to communicate perfectly with the heater. Other comments complain about the display. The controller does not show any temperature, it just show the temperature set for the selected zone. This is in fact a bit dissapointing, I would like to know how actually warm is the defined zone/room, but this information is not provided on the controller. You have to physically check it on the LED of the heater. The last point is about the batteries, which some people says doesn't last too long. I could not verify this yet, but packed batteries seems to be really cheap, I really don't recommend using the controller with them. The manual also states that once the batteries are dead/replaced the controller loses all its program and everything must be redone. This may be a nuissance so to avoid having to do it, let's say' each three months I changed the original batteries for some alkaline ones hoping that it will last at least a whole year. Final thoughts Pros: integrate several heaters without wiring; versatility with differents heating zones; nice and modern look Cons: confusing and difficult to operate at first; no zone temperature feedback; pricy I not only recommend this system as I will buy additional heaters to fully integrate my house.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works fine, pain to setup First of all, this controller works great after you set it. It saves me at least a dollar a day and there were just a couple of times in a few month when some interference prevented one of the heatersnot to switch to the desired temperature at the preset time. However the manual is just badly written and some features are not intuitively understandable. I can understand that time must be set with a 1-min interval and this may take some time, especially when your local time is 12 hours ahead of the default one. Anyway, I will see it again when I need to change the battery once a year. But setting time for out-of-home or night mode with the same interval, seriously? Do you know anyone who needs to turn his heaters on exactly at 17:27? A 15 or 10-minute interval would be fine, even 5. Also the most complicated moment is the initial sync with the heaters. When you do it, nothing tells you what is going on until heater's display shows the new setting. This is the reason why many people are having difficulties with that. Hopefully the new Wi-Fi enabled controllers will make it easier.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Under-Engineered Product WARNING: This productive is not user-friendly and takes about 90 minutes or longer to configure once you get past reading the manual. The product is under-engineered because it loses its configuration data once the batteries are removed for replacement or upgrade.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK if you are the set it and forget it type As the other reviews note, this thing is no GEM to use. However, mine has performed solidly, (no glitches!) so I think it rates at least a 3. I'm going to replace mine with the wifi version soon - I wrote the company asking for that the day after I installed this a couple of years back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from works as expected I put three heaters in my wife's studio and wanted the wifi thermostat but the reviews were so bad I got this one. The instructions take a little studying and patience is required but it works as expected. Have all three heaters on the same zone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from First impressions Ok. So the fast majority of the reviews are accurate but let me give you my opinion being an IT professional. 1. Getting the device setup on your iPhone wasn’t straightforward. The app sends you back to your wifi settings to connect to the CONNEX networking. At this point it prompts to configure the device. Stop and don’t do it here. Switch back to the app continue from their to setup the device. 2. Syncing with the heaters is easy if you follow these setups. 1. Go into setup on the controller, press the sync icon, press the zone you want to sync to. On your heater, hold the V button for 3 seconds the. Press the down button, then the up button then the V button. The heater is now in sync mode. you have 10 seconds now. Now click the sync button on the controller. The only way to verify the sync is to change the temp from the controller or app. I agree setting this up is difficult, however, once you get it work I think you’ll be happy. I’m not sure what the alternatives are. I’m not going to remove these heaters. I’ll try and post an update after some use with it.

Does anyone know if there's a similar controller that works on AC power? I hate battery operated devices.

Does this unit work with the LCD 2005w31/500-240v?

Asked by: Menominee
Good Day Menominee, I apologize for the delay. The Connex controller works with the smart baseboard it has a digital display screen on the right hand side of the unit. If it does not have the digital displace it will not work with the baseboard. We have the LC2005W31 which does not have the display. We do not have LCD series. The LPC series has the display and will work with the Connex Controller. Thank You Glen Dimplex Americas Customer Experience Team.

How is the temperature monitored in each of the 4 zones? Is there a wireless thermostat for each zone communicating with the main controller?

Asked by: Johnson_215
The term thermostat is a misnomer, it is really just a remote control, the thermostat is built-in each LPC baseboard, so all the thermostat does is send the desired temperature to the baseboards and it does the rest.

Did anybody knows if they improved this product since the last review 7 months ago? I was interested to buy a wireless controlled thermostat for a future baseboard heater and after looking at these reviews I am not so sure that I want this model.

Asked by: CrisP
Mine has been working OK for the past couple of years. It sucks to have to totally reprogram after the battery dies, but that only happens about once a year. I'm planning to upgrade to the wifi version soon, since I want the ability to remote-control the home heaters from my office across town. I read the manual and the "WIFI" controller looks 100% as crude as the basic version, and NO mention whatsoever confirming remote control (from outside your home) in the manual. But the hype says it can, so I assume it does. The video shows the android app is at least a tiny improvement over the crude touchscreen ( which is laborious to use!)

Does it have a mini-usb port to plug a charger instead of batteries? like a cell phone charger type.

The sync "seems" to go well, when syncing the heaters while a time period is active they snap on. When it comes to switching to a new event the controller displays the new temperature correctly but the heaters do not update to the new temperature.

Will this controller work for both the SMART and not SMART labelled heaters from Dimplex? Im looking at the model LC4015W31 for instance, it doesnt appear to have a thermostat on board and is not labelled SMART but it does mention "Wireless" in specs.

Asked by: Compuguy1969
Good Day, The Multi Zone Connex controller is only compatible with the SMART heaters (LPC series.) Glen Dimplex Customer Experience Team
