Rated 5 out of 5 by from 550 3/4 HP 310MHz Garage Door Opener with Rails 550 3/4 HP 310MHz Garage Door Opener with Rails The product is as advertised. Installed in the 2 inches of clearance above door. Strait forward to install. Must pay attention which end the power connector mounts in the rail. Pay attention to the remote programming instructions. Very smooth operation and quiet. Only con is the remote buttons are small (old fat fingers) but that’s what you get to have the remote on your key ring. Yes I would buy another one and did to replace the old one on the second door in the garage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smooth and quiet. Installed a month ago. A bit of a trick to putting it together, took a few hours. Happy with the performance, much quieter than my older unit. A little slower moving up and down than my previous opener by a few seconds. Happy with the purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great! Purchased 1 month ago. Runs ultra quiet. A bit slow compared to other units I’ve owed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding product I love it. The design is brilliant -- the chain is fixed in position and the only moving part is the sprocket which crawls along the chain to open or close the door. The controller "learns" the effort required and opens the door quietly, with minimum stress on the door itself. It starts slowly, speeds up once the door is moving and then slows down again before reaching the end. And the controller uses a "rolling code" which improves security considerably. When opening or closing the door I can't hear the opener -- the only noise is from the door. I installed the opener myself and it went together well. The instructions are very good. My only question is: Why doesn't Home Depot carry this product in its stores? This is a far better opener than the ones on the shelf.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from quiet, low profile, easy installation I purchased this particular opener because I have a VERY low ceiling in my garage (as in, the door just barely kisses the ceiling at a certain point as it starts to open). This opener can be installed with as little as 1.5" of clearance, or with an optional side-mount kit. The ceiling trusses in my garage run perpendicular to the door wall, so I opted for a rather unconventional installation of the opener. My ceiling is sheathed with OSB, so I simply cut out a section of ceiling between 2 trusses, and raised it a couple of inches. It's not ideal, nor is it particularly pretty, but it was MUCH less costly than buying the side-mount kit (which would have nearly doubled the cost of an already spendy opener, and I'm not even sure that it would have fit well). Installation of the obstruction sensors was a bit tricky, with putting the wire leads into the spring-clip terminals on the head unit. But once I got the wires stuffed in the proper socket, everything works great. Some reviewers complain about the tiny buttons of the remote. Yes, they're small. You might have to take off a glove to press it. They require a very deliberate pressing. But the remotes are nice and compact, and clip unobtrusively to your sun visor. I'm really happy with this opener, and wish I'd bought it years ago. It's very quiet (even with a bedroom over the garage. The squeaky door is much noisier than the hum of the opener!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Low Noise Garage Door Opener Bought this product based on a recommendation from my brother-in-law. Even though it took a while to install (not as easy as the videos make it out to be), this garage door opener works really well. It makes very little noise and is compact. I would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product It is the best garage door opener, if you are looking for a simple and efficient one. It is extremely silent but the garage door will open 3-5 seconds slower then other garage door openers. It does not come with the internet gateway out of the box even though you can get it separately. The installation is simple and can be done in under 2 hours by anybody. Instruction are simple and precise but you must follow them exactly. I got caught a couple of time thinking that "I know better" and had to redo them. i had this for over 1 month and i am happy happy with this purchase. Highly recommended.

Does this unit work on an 8 foot high door? Or are there additional rails required/ available?

Asked by: AKennedy
My garage door is 7 foot high. From my judgment, if the door is 8 foot high it should be OK because the rail is long enough, no need for extra rails.

I am replacing a Sears garage door opener that had an opener wired to a switch (like a door bell) in the garage, in addition to the remote.  I see this product comes with remotes.  Would it be possible to hard wire this switch to this product?

Asked by: Peter A
The opener comes with a wall switch. Your existing opener probably has two wires with the wall switch providing a contact closure (like a doorbell). The new opener is the same. When I installed my unit I used the existing wiring (two wires to the switch) but replaced the old switch with the switch that came with the new opener.
