DMX AG Foundation Wrap creates an air gap between wet soil and your basement wall, allowing the poured concrete and concrete block wall to breathe and provides a clear negative side drainage path to disperse any ground moisture that might find it way behind the membrane. Wet soil never touches the wall next to your living space, thus reducing the chances of water infiltration into the basement.

Can I use this in basement over concrete as underlayment of laminate flooring? can this act as moisture barrier as well without need of other underlayment layer? Thanks,

Asked by: alan
I actually used it that way and then I applied the sub floor wood on top and then the flooring.

What type of sealant is used to join the roll lap joints?

Asked by: Paul
Hello Paul: When joining two rolls of foundation wrap, it is recommended, to use an asphalt caulking, roofing mastic or equivalent to seal the overlap. Customer Care DMX

How difficult is this foundation wrap to cut, and what tool would you use? I only need 5 feet width.

Asked by: thedoctor78
A simple knife will do, don't cut too quickly as it's very easy to miss cut. It cut through like butter

What is the molding for?

Asked by: Ryan
Hello Ryan, DMX AG Foundation Wrap Kit comes with 200 washers and 5 pieces of mold strip (DMX Flextrim). The flextrim is used to seal the membranes around windows or on a slope (placed where the header had been cut off), as well as at the end of the roll, when you are not installing the entire foundation (such as an attached garage). The flextrim prevents dirt from getting between the membrane and the wall. Customer Care DMX

What is the thickness of the DMX AG? I want to use it in my basement with 5/8" OSB.

Asked by: PMHS
I don’t know the exact thickness but I used it for this exact application. The manufacturer will advise against it as they sell a more expensive product designed for this but it worked well for me. Floors are nice and warm.

When installing the foundation wrap and 2” of EPS on the foundation, which goes against the concrete, the insulation or the foundation wrap?

Asked by: DDL_DYI
Hello: Whether the foundation wrap is installed indoors or outdoors, in this specific case, the foundation wrap is to be installed first, after which 2 inch thick EPS can be installed against DMX AG. Customer Care DMX

When applying DMX AG over a waterproof foundation membrane (to protect the waterproof membrane from being punctured by gravel backfill), what is the best way to affix the DMX AG to the membrane and wall without making holes in the membrane?

Asked by: Robert
I wanted to know the same thing, and it seems like whoever is representing the company and answering your question doesn’t truest understand what you are asking. You want to know what how to avoid putting holes in your Blueskin or other brand waterproof membrane that is directly applied to the foundation wall when putting the dimpled foundation wrap overtop of it... My best suggestion for you, would be to attach the top of the dimpled membrane higher than where your blueskin goes to, and this creating an extra barrier and airgap overtop of your waterproof layer. You would be putting the concrete screws or fasteners above grade, and thus eliminating any potential for water to seep through where the washers are. I wouldn’t put any in the middle of the sheet, and they are only there to hold the sheet in place while backfilling. It’s not going to move once in place. The recommendation of the W Pattern in the middle of the sheet, in my opinion would be for more of an industrial site where it will be exposed to a more harsh environment before backfilling when they are building 20 homes at a time.

Why is the DMX AG foundation wrap not recomended for indoor use. I started using it under a sub floor months ago and recently went to purchase another roll and seen a very large notice on the new roll stating not recomended for in door use.

Asked by: awnman
Because DMX has started manufacturing an indoor specific underlayment.  They recommend this over the foundation wrap. Perhaps because it's more expensive. A year ago there were no labels like this on the DMX AG.  If you want to save money use this or choose Platon brand, which is the same product by another manufacturer. Good luck!
