Dremel 1/8-inch Carbide Cutter Rotary Tool Accessory for Steel, Iron, Ceramics, Plastics and Hard Wood

Model # 9903|Store SKU # 1000154372

Overview

Model # 9903 Store SKU # 1000154372

Dremels highly-durable tungsten carbide carving bits can be used for more aggressive applications to shape, smooth, or grind hard materials such as metals, hardened steel, fire ceramics, cast iron, plastics, and hardwoods. The versatile 1/8 -inch (3.2mm) diameter carving bit is made of tungsten carbide. For use with all Dremel high-speed rotary tools, the accessories work well for projects like metal or glass engraving, stone carving, or removing flash from castings. The ball nose of the carving bit allows for deep removal or to hollow out material. Use the sides to cut flat areas or round edges. The tip makes round-bottom slots and grooves and can be used for rounded side cuts.

  1. Shapes, smooths or grinds especially hard materials including: hardened steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nonferrous metals, fired ceramics, plastics and hard woods
  1. A high-speed bit made of tungsten carbide, the hardest material next to diamonds
  1. Use higher speeds for hard woods, slower speeds for metals and very slow speeds for plastics
  1. Use the sides of the bit (Rather than the tip) for effective cutting

I don’t think this bit matches the intended use. This bit is for cutting laterally. You should be able to get a different bit, perhaps for a conventional drill instead of a Dremel tool.

I don't see why not. A rotozip type bit might work better though. It has larger flutes to disperse the softer material
