Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Product for Dry and Warm Floors I have been looking for a subfloor product to put under my vinyl flooring in the basement. I came across this product and took a chance as I’ve had great experience with other Dricore products. The compression strength is very high, I was concerned when I saw that it was made of foam but I was able to put a pool table on top of the finished floor no problem! I used the leveling shims underneath and used floor leveler for spots greater than 1/4” and there hasn’t been any issues! The product is very quiet and I haven’t been able to hear any squeaks or rattles under the floor. I would strongly recommend this product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Warm!! This subfloor has already saved me money!! Installation was simple, no tools other than a utility knife to cut it was needed and it went down perfect. Immediately after placement I noticed a huge difference in temperature and I hadn't even installed the laminate over top yet. I would recommend this subfloor to anyone. I wish I had known about it sooner as I had already used a more substandard product in other parts of my home and the difference is like night and Day. It absolutely worth a few dollars more for much more warmth and was of use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing subfloor - worth the buy! I used this to replace the floor in the basement washroom that is at my house. We have forced air going into the room but we also have a baseboard heater to take the bit off as the room never really gets to temp. I am happy to report that after using Dricore and re-installing the floor, I have not had to use the baseboard heater yet! It is extremely easy to use and to cut around obstacles such as the beam I have on the one wall. It was also very convenient to load into the vehicle as such my wife went to buy more of them for me when I ran out and she was able to easily use the minivan instead of my truck. 10 out of 10 for me on this one folks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great warmth I installed this product in my basement bathroom, directly over the concrete floor. Previously I had vinyl laminate directly on the concrete and the floor was quite cold, after I relayed it on top of the dricore subfloor, the temperature change was quite noticable. I did have some issues during the install, being a foam board, it cuts to size very easily, however the tongue and groove fits very tight and I broke the tongue and the first board I went to install. After that I was very careful and had no more issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install Bought this product last week, installed it over the weekend myself. Really easy to work with, lightweight, going to keep my floors warm and off the cold, damp concrete. Installed a luxury vinyl plank over top and it went really well. I recommend this to anyone looking to turn a basement into a living space.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Squeaky... Im a bit underwhelmed by this product... For $1.86 sq ft its quite expensive and I dont think it was worth it. The pucks on the bottom arent as strong as I was expecting. The fact that I was able to squeeze the pucks down with my index finger and thumb are a bit concering. Bit of squeaking too...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed We bought this to insulate our concrete basement floor because of the advertised benefits. I'm sorry we did. Our basement floor is not 100% level and trying to level this product with shims and levelling cement was a disaster. We have bouncing floors everywhere. Second, and most disappointing, is that we noticed no temperature improvement downstairs. NONE. After spending $5000+ and countless weeks to finish our basement, I consider this product a waste of money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from May be great IF you have perfect concrete... We were installing luxury vinyl plank in the basement of a 45-year old home. There were no major cracks or signs of water damage, but there were some slightly uneven areas. We tried the Dricore leveling shims with this product, but could not come close to a satisfactory install with our flooring. It was very "squishy" and noisy to walk on (we completed about 100 square feet of flooring install before our final test and throwing in the towel on this product for our subfloor. Things went much better and much smoother when we switched to the R+ Dricore subfloor. The levellers worked much better with it in the areas where they were needed and our flooring installation went much more smoothly. Trying to use the Insul-Armor was a massive frustration and made us want to throw out our flooring! This may not be the case if you have completely level concrete with 0 dips, but if you have inconsistencies of even less than 1/4 inch (where the shims can be a great help), save yourself some time and frustration and do not go with this as your subfloor. We will be returning our unused boxes shortly.

Can I tile over this?

Asked by: Gmussels
I don't think so. It's got too much flexibility. Grout would crack for sure.

When installing does it have to be against the direction of the LVT such that the seams of the Insul-Armor go north/south and the LVT goes east/west? Also, is the hight 1" exact?

Asked by: Ms DP
Yes, you want the LVT seams to be perpendicular to the subfloor panels seams. Yes, the height of the panels is precisely 1" thick.

When installing laminate floor, should there be underlay between the dricor and the laminate for noise reduction?

Asked by: debora
Hello Debora, No that is not necessary, the laminate can install directly over the Insul-Armor. Provided the installation is done properly, there should be no noise.

Is it possible to lay looselay planks or tiles directly over this product, or would I have to put plywood 1st? How thick must the plywood be, as the Dricore is already 1” thick? Thank you!

Asked by: Jenn
I laid this insulation over concrete flooring and then put LVT click flooring over this. The basement is cozy, no issues with movement. We put down 800 sq ft. Of course we made sure the concrete was levelled with thinset prior to starting the project so the whole floor was within tolerances of the flooring as per manufacturer.

Is it common to tape these together for extra or is the tongue and groove substantial hold?

Asked by: Karlo
The tongue and groove are very strong though you can use the red tuck tape to hold them together temporarily.

This product states it is meant to be used over concrete flooring. Can it also be used for a main floor on top of the existing plywood flooring?

Asked by: Tyler
I’m sure it can, it’s a great product. it’s meant for insulating over concrete, however, you can use it anywhere.I personally used it to cover basement tile floor. Big difference in floor temperature.

Is the Insul-Armor Premium Subfloor also a vapour barrier (assuming using vapour barrier rated tape to bind them together)?

Asked by: Tom123
Yes, the tongue and groove nature of the sheets, both on the sides and ends aids in this respect. I use this on my concrete, basement floor and put laminate flooring directly on top of it.  It is designed exactly for that use case.  Although not absolutely necessary, I also used tuck tape to keep the sheets together prior to leaving the laminate flooring.

Could I install a heated floor using self levelling compound over this and a 1/4" OSB? I'm concerned about compression and the self-levelling compound breaking.

Asked by: MrTee
Hello, no not directly. Please follow our installation instructions for carpet https://dricore.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Insul-Armor-instructions-final-small.pdf. Once the substrate is secured, you may proceed with your radiant heat application.
