Rated 4 out of 5 by from Basic material. Styrofoam sheets. One side has foil coating. The other has a green coating. The coatings seam to make less mess when cutting the sheets.

I was wondering on an interior basement wall if you apply the durofoam to all the walls first then frame them is a vapour barrier still required?

Asked by: Jeff
Glued durafoam directly to concrete wall then taped all the seams with tuck tape. No vapour barrier required, then installed studs.

It is printable? Can I install it on ceiling, then skip drywall, directly spray paint ceiling on it?

Asked by: Cathy
No sorry you have to cover it with drywall by code.

I would like to use this as a temporary winter insulation over a garage door in a gym. The insulation would be removed and stored in the summer. Is it suitable for this application and do any building codes apply in this case?

Asked by: Mr Tee
You can use the product for the application you are talking about but code does stipulate you have to cover any rigid insulation with drywall. However because your application is temporary it is recommended you reach out to your local building official and see what they say.

Can you double up and put 2 pieces of 1” on a basement wall, or do I have to buy a 2” thick panel?

Asked by: BoBeagle
I'm not aware of any reason that won't work. It's possible that the foil on the back of the room-facing panels would block moisture, at least at first, but I don't think that would be a problem anyway.

Can i put this down on my gravel crawlspace floor? I just want some thing to prevent puncture of the poly being used to encapsulate. Spray foaming the posts and rim joists.

Asked by: Benj
You can but code requires any exposed rigid insulation has to be covered with a finishing product if you are leaving it in place.

Can this insulation be used against a basement block wall with a 2x4 wall built in front insulated and a vapour barrier applied?

Asked by: Googh
I'm going to say yes. I've seen examples on YouTube and am doing this myself. You still have to use a vapour barrier per code.

Can this be used to insulate inside my attached garage?

Asked by: Eyeliv2ryde
Hindsight, I would have preferred using it on the outside wall sheathing but was in a hurry to get my heated garage sided with cement board. Later I decided to install the 1" rigid foam as the first layer of insulation on the inside of the garage. I wanted to have some insulation during the winter prior to installing the electrical wires. I cut 4'x8' sheets to fit the 2x6 inch stud wall cavities at 16" o/c (each about 14 1/2"W x 48"L). I placed it into each cavity with the foil side facing inward and then added a bead of spray foam around the edges. I eventually placed typical fiber insulation on top.
