The Dustopper makes tackling the messiest jobs a breeze while also keeping your wet/dry vacuum free of dust and debris. Dustopper's specially designed chamber snaps onto any standard 5 Gal. bucket and collects more than 99% of dust and debris before it reaches your vacuum. This keeps your filter clean and prevents the suction loss commonly caused by a clogged filter. The low-profile design makes efficient use of space, making it ideal for anywhere you may need it. It is easy to set up and can be ready to go in under a minute, straight out of the box. Simply remove Dustopper from its box, place it on a standard 5 Gal. bucket, and connect it to your shop vacuum with the hose and 2 sweep elbows provided. Disposal is as easy as lifting the Dustopper from its bucket and carrying the collected debris away.

  1. Extends filter life by collecting more than 99% debris before it enters your wet/dry vacuum
  1. New sweep elbows improve CFM performance in configurations where elbows are used
  1. Low profile design makes efficient use of precious shop space and sets up in under a minute with no additional hardware
  1. Prolonged filter life keeps your vacuum running at peak efficiency for longer
  1. Fits on a Homer Bucket or most standard 5 Gal. buckets for easy disposal of debris - no need to break down your vacuum
  1. Recommended for use with vacuums of 4.5 HP and higher

It was easy to set up, although I had to use 2 pails-one inside the other to keep it from collapsing. I also put 2 bricks in the bottom of the outside pail to keep it from tipping over. It had a pretty tight fit over the Home Depot pail as well. I did notice that the top of the dust collector was a bit flimsy where you attach the elbow, and I'm hoping that it doesn't crack over time. It gets about 85% of the sawdust from my miter saw. I feel that the price of $49.00 was a bit steep for the unit and would have liked it to have been a better quality plastic. Also, one of the hoses has started to collapse already.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It works After trying to build my own that worked to a point I decided to pick this up. Hooked things up, dumped a mess of saw dust on the floor, sucked it up and my filter was full. Crap this doesn't work. Well if you don't snap it fully down on the bucket it doesn't work. Duh. OK clean the filter and the vac and the bucket, made sure the dustopper was snapped on tight to the bucket and tried again. Filter clean and dust in the bucket (Sounds like a country song)(Dust in the Bucket) LOL Seems to work great when you actually snap it to the bucket right! I would recomennd.

Cordless vacum

Im moving soon and right now i cant run a corded vac and my table say at the same time and the lager ryobi and rigid cordless vac dont show a horse power rating will they work with this
Asked by: Reme
As long as the hoses hit, it should work fine; more than horsepower which is meaningless is the CFM level; even if the cordless vacs are lower CFM, they should be able to suck something; the table saw will do part of the work anyhow as it will spray out the dust through the dust port. Air flow velocity and volume To keep the chips, shavings and dust moving through the system's ductwork, a dust collector has to keep the air stream in the system moving at a certain velocity, measured in feet per minute (fpm), and has to move a certain (fairly large) volume of air, measured in cubic feet per minute (cfm). The relationship between air volume and air velocity is a function of the size of the duct: A stream of air moving at a given speed through a 12" diameter round duct is transporting a much greater volume of air than an air stream moving at the same velocity through a 3" diameter duct. In choosing a dust collector and designing a dust collection system, it is important to remember that air volume and velocity are interrelated. As you might expect, it takes a more powerful dust collector to move a large volume of air at a speed sufficient for effective dust collection than it does to move a small volume of air. Your dust collection system must be capable of delivering the minimum required cfm to each machine to which it will be connected. In general, the range for effective chip, shaving and large particle dust control is between 300 cfm for a tool with a lower dust and debris output, such as a scroll saw, and 900 cfm for a tool that really puts out the shavings, like a 24' thickness planer. Many manufacturers publish minimum cfm requirements for each of their power tools. But to give you a rough ideal of what you'll need in terms of air flow volume, the chart below lists common cfm requirements for popular shop machinery.

wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to use with just getting a used 5 gallon paint bucket and some off the shelf pvc connectors and a pool skimmer hose? Why yes it would. Been doing it for years

Is this item going to be available for purchase again, or is the company that makes them out of business? Question asked on March 26th, 2021.
Asked by: Aco319Sig
Yesterday was 6/12/2021 and I purchased the new version at a local Home Depot, they had 3 in stock but they were not on the shelf but up on top of the rack because they had just gotten them in and were in the process of rearranging the shelf. There was a spot on the rack but they items weren't in place yet.

Will this work with drywall joint compound dust to protect the shop vac?
Asked by: vineyridge
We encourage anyone working with fine dust, including sawdust, drywall, concrete, etc. to use a fabric pre-filter such as FilterPal. It helps you stop the last bit of dust from entering into your filter and are easy to clean. You can knock it off and keep using it or you can throw them into the washer after use.
