Is this suppose to make a clanging noise when the desired temperature is reached, and it is cooling down? Mine does and I don't know if i should return it, or if it is normal.

The fan runs after the unit is turned off to cool down but I have not heard any noise other than the fan. No clanging.

This is a 240 volt unit, why do the directions say to install white to L1 and black to L2 Green to ground with no mention of the 2nd hot lead being the red one?
Asked by: JWHY
its just the difference between a 3 wire and 4 wire setup. 3 wire is just black/white and grnd. 4 wire adds the red. check your breaker box. If the the red and black are both connected to hot on the breaker, then use them for the heater and just cap off the white wire at the heater as it is a neutral ( not needed). You could also disconnect the neutral from the Bus bar in the breaker box if it makes you feel better. If someone only has the 3 wire (black and white) then both of those leads are connected to the hot in the breaker box and the neutral is non-existent. obviously grnd to grnd.
