Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Well My bedroom is over the garage and it was always cold. I redid the ceiling years ago with rockwool, a vapor barrier and drywall but that was only a minor improvement. This time around I insulated the wooden garage door. and sealed all cracks. I installed a 30 amp 240 breaker and ran a 10/2 armored cable. I set the thermostat to 10 degrees C and finally the bedroom is warm!!! I'm turning it off at night to save more power.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute gatbage Stoped working after 90 days. 103 days to be exact. Didn’t run it all the time. Dyna glo and Home Depot will not refund or exchange. Stay away from this product stay away from Home Depot. So disappointed actually disgusted with the manager who said and I quote “ I don’t care and there is nothing we can do for you “ wonderful. Buyer beware I guess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Should have done this years ago. 20x24 attached insulated garage. Normal winter weather it stays around 45 degrees in there, in cold below zero weather it can get to 30 degrees. Finally decided to heat the area, got a contractor out for a bid. He suggested a mini-split unit, $3000 to $4000 installed. A natural gas fan forced ceiling mount, he quoted me $2800 installed. No way. I bought this heater, wiring, conduit, conduit bender, and wall mount thermostat for a total investment under $300. Installed it myself, not that hard (if unfamiliar with electrical wiring contract that part out) and I couldn’t be happier. Heats the area quickly and didn’t need to run gas line or exhaust piping out through the roof. And like I told the contractor, I can pay for a lot of electricity for that $2700 difference in what he wanted to install, and that still uses electricity anyway. YouTube videos can guide you on self install. Highly recommend.

I wired it in with an external thermostat and I am very pleased with the results. I used 10/3 wire encased in an armored casing. It is efficient and I have no complaints. The best feature is the selectable heat settings and presently I am using it on it's lowest output (3000W) and it has been doing the job fine. Be certain if you are a DIYer that you use a proper 220V breaker and heavy enough wire to accommodate the load. I received some great guidance on the circuit breaker and wiring from Sonny at the Rutland, VT Home Depot.

Can you hear/feel the heat being blow out? We installed without an external thermostat and everything turns on and the fan spins but you can't feel or hear it. If that makes sense? One reviewer said it was loud and we can't hear ours at all.

Asked by: Jay42
Electric thermostat designed for a heavy wire load. The manual gives wiring diagrams for both a single pole or double pole thermostat and I opted for the double pole with the ability to turn off the unit.

Can this unit be turned off? I don't see a power switch in any of the images and I don't want it to run when I'm not using my shop.
Asked by: Nelson
Yes there is a power switch on the rear however, with it being mounted over 8 feet from the floor it is hard to reach so, I installed a double pole thermostat which has an off position.

Is it better to have one 10,000-watt unit for my garage, or have two 5,000-watt units? My garage is about 900 sq/ft. I was wondering both the heat output, and the electric consumption.
Asked by: Moonbaby
I think 2 units would give you more control over the space but require more effort for installation. A 10K watt unit would have a simpler installation but you would get a lot of power in one area. It also depends on how large your garage is. -GHP
