Are there threads on inside (pictures do not show) for a 1 1/2" PVC pipe? How does one hook up a pipe to it? Note: If there was a compete mechanical description, there would be no need for questions...
Asked by: jimmy
You'll need a 2" female pipe thread to 1-1/2" PVC adapter, like a bell reducer. Note that you should use PTFE tape or pipe dope on the threaded adapter, since your 1-1/2" pipe cannot drain the shower / tub as fast as the 2" drain opening can. 1-1/2" pipe is really insufficient for a tub / shower drain in the first place.

Does this connect to a 2" ABS drain line? How?

Asked by: 1TinSoldier
The shower drain will connect to a 2 in. ABS drain line. There is a gasket inside the shower drain that compresses onto the pipe. For any further assistance please feel free to contact customer service at 1-800-486-5256.

I feel like it doesn’t catch the hairs and they go down the drain. What do you recommend?

Asked by: Natalie
A shower hair catcher could be attached to this drain to protect unwanted debris, however at this time we do not offer this additional item.

Hello, I recently just purchased a shower base for my bathroom. I have a two inch pvc pipe sticking out of the floor. Is there any other assembly I would need or would this be enough?
Asked by: Chris
The shower drain has male threads. It will work with your 2-inch pipe. If a 2-inch female adapter has been added to accept the male threads on the drain.

What does IPS mean

What does IPS mean
Asked by: Diyman
Iron Pipe Size (IPS) refers to an old pipe sizing system still in use by some industries, including major PVC pipe manufacturers, as well as some legacy drawings and equipment. The iron pipe size standard came into being early in the 19th century and remained in effect until after World War II. The IPS system was primarily used in the United States and the United Kingdom. In the 1920s, the Copper Tube Size (CTS) standard was combined with the IPS standard.

Will this item fit over a metal drain pipe?

Will this item fit over a metal drain pipe?
Asked by: George
This is a multi-part drain. The chrome top section unscrews from the brass base section. There are 2 rubber washers included. The brass base section screws into you existing drain pipe. This is where you need to make sure the threads match and the height is correct for you shower base. If that is correct, use Teflon tape or thread compound and get the brass base section good and sight in you existing metal drain pipe. Then one of the rubber washers is placed on top of the brass base section. Place your shower base, then place the second rubber washer before screwing down the chrome top section.
