The thermo treatment process accelerates the aging of wood to make it similar to 350-year old lumber. The process eliminates all moisture, resins, sugars, organisms, and bacteria in the wood. The thermo-modified wood is pure and it is a 100% Green product! Our planks are perfectly milled and due to thermo-treatment, they will not be shrinking, cupping, and moving on the wall. The product is made in the USA from American lumber. Our home decor wall planks are great for both residential and commercial applications such as accent walls, wainscoting, wall tiles, ceilings, wall art, headboards, underbars, upgrades for furniture and doors, and many others. Thermo treatment makes wood essentially durable and rot resistant: you may use our planks in high humidity environment, such as bathrooms, kitchens, basements, pool areas, even for light backsplash areas. DIY installation kit included in each box (one pre-cut starter/end plank for easier installation and fasteners). See installation instructions for details.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Barn Board Accent Planks Although the product had a very nice look, I was actually quite surprised and disappointed with the quality and the thickness (not 1/4 in. more like 1/8 in.) of the planks and it was priced much higher than I would have paid if I bought it in the store. Because of the Provincial lockdown, I could not return it to the store and was under pressure to complete the project that I specifically bought it for. I had it professionally installed and the bottom line was, I was very happy.

It sounds like there is no tongue and groove system so would you be forced to face nail all of the planks for a proper ceiling installation?

The planks made from thermo-treated wood, which is stable, light in weight and don't need T&G system - install with just square edges side to side. Yes, always good to have enforced installation if it agreed with your design concept. The finishing nails also create enough holding power, especially if to adjust a power tool to not send finishing nails too deep in the wood.

Can we use this product to finish an area around a gas fireplace?

It should be at least 1 foospace around fireplace which trimmed with non-flammable materials and after that you may use wood wall planks.
