Rated 1 out of 5 by from warranty no good Was less than a year old and had to have a new carb....just quit running suddenly.... Echo will not warranty any fuel issues....even if you use their fuel.....5 year warranty is a joke. I have 2 other two cycle pieces of equipment using the same fuel and they are running fine. Plus Dealer has had it for over 3 weeks putting a carb on...... Back to walmart to buy the throw aways.....at least they run for 3 years.....then toss em and buy another.....cheaper in the long run... Echo has lost a customer.....and by the way.....you can't post a negative review on their website...they won't let you.....so all of those positive testimontals are filtered.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money I've had many string trimmers over the years, but this Echo has been the best by far. This trimmer is light, powerful, quieter than average and reliable. I'm glad I didn't opt for the larger engine, as the 21.2cc has plenty of power and easily tore through two foot tall grasses and weeds. I cut the meadow across the stream and the neighbor's hillside too, on less than a tank of gas; and unlike my previous trimmer, I do not feel the need to wear hearing protection. I previously purchased a Echo blower/vac, and am very please with it as well. Echo does cost a little more than the average, but it once again proves that you get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EZ Start and powerful Let me first say that I had another brand Battery weed eater. It did pretty good but did not last long especially on higher power settings. I was trying to avoid the gas tools except for the tractor. This was a HUGE upgrade. I use the premix gas/oil (ethanol free) and it starts very easily. It easily takes out any larger weeds. My only complaint is the amount of grass that is thrown backwards on my jeans. Then again, it does what is supposed to do. As a side note, many reviews of battery vs. fuel say that there is more maintenance (cost) for gas powered...true but price out a new battery which will need to be changed after 2-3 years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Trimmer!!! I'm going to make this short and to-the-point.... Quit reading and buy this trimmer! After all of my research, this is surely the one I needed to own. It's perfect for the average homeowner with a very broad amount of trimming and edging to be done. This ranges from light yard trimming, to all-out shrub clearing. It has great power, more than enough. It's also very quiet. I recommend to ANYONE looking for a fantastic trimmer that WILL last for years I'm sure. Also, this thing produces ZERO SMOKE! That's amazing compared to what is produced by the other 2-strokes.(non-ECHO)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME!!!! By far, the easiest pull start I've ever experienced. The new I-75 start system literally allows you to pull with 2 fingers and it starts.... Minimal vibration and very easy to use. Another nice feature is the ability to replace the line without having the take apart the trimmer head. You simply put the line in the head and turn the head.....SWEET... I Maybe the single best reason and benefit for the ease of use with this trimmer......My wife was amazed on how easy it was to add line and the ease of starting, she said she might start using the trimmer...... NICE!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best weed wacker I've waited a year to review this model. It is by far the best trimmer/weed wacker I've ever had. The easy start feature has proved reliable and consistent. Line feeder works well - has never jammed; cutting action very good. Ability to control speed is fine - I need to do a lot of lower speed cutting on stone beds. The only issue I have is that you need to be very careful about angle - or the unit will throw stuff back at you. Am looking for an alternate shield to provide a bit more protection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Love This Trimmer After poking around Echo's website I settled on this trimmer because of the ease in starting. Unfortunately HD didn't carry this in my local store, but offered to ship it to me. Upon receiving it I put it together and was surprised at how simple it was to start. Yes, Echo's website said it was, but I wasn't sure if that was marketing speak or what. This trimmer is very simple to use and starts easily on the first or second pull. It takes no effort whatsoever to pull the starter rope. The trimmer works well and I love the fact that it can be re-strung without tools.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Stupid quick spool design I recently bought this trimmer a few months ago and it is great. It has plenty of power and the reliability of echo is unmatched. The only problem i have with it is their new "quick spool" line loader design. While it is very fast like they say and yes you can load about 20'-25' of line in under a minute, it doesn't keep the line tight inside so when you're using it, the line becomes loose and tangles up on itself and won't come out, kind of like a fishing reel. I'm constantly taking it apart and pulling all the string out and reloading it

If there is no difference in performance between 225 and 225i models, what difference in the models is there that causes the price difference ?

Asked by: geebick
The only reason the 225 i is more money is because it has a easy start pull cord to where it has a delay making it easier to start and that is why the price diff is higher but they both run the same speed and rpm

What's the oil / gas mixture ratio

Asked by: wheels
A 50:1 ratio with 89 Octane fuel can be used in all ECHO 2-stroke equipment, provided the oil is ISO-L-EGD and JASO M345 FD certified. ISO-L-EGD and JASO M345 FD oil must be used with a mid-grade (89 octane) or premium gasoline in all 1997 and newer engines.

what tool or tools does it take to respool the trimmer head on an Echo srm 225i string trimmer

Asked by: bill
No tools required, you just thread 20' of line through the head until you have 10' on either side, the turn the head clockwise to roll it up until six inches or so remains exposed. If you for some reason want to remove the head, all you need is a two inch nail or something similar to lock the shaft while you unscrew the head in a CLOCKWISE manner.

What is the difference in the 225 and 225i

Asked by: jay
The only difference I found was that the 225i is supposed to be 75% easier to start. In my opinion, worth the extra money. Also, not sure if you saw this tip in the reviews. But certain trimming jobs are best done walking backwards so the cast-off debris doesn't hit you.

The SRM-225i comes standard with the Speed-Feed cutting head already installed. The optional U-Turn cutting head is also available as a separate accessory for purchase.
