Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy cold start I picked this up recently and waited until the temp dropped. It's about -8C in the garage so I figured it's time to try to start it for the first time. I use the same same start procedure as the CS-310 chainsaw. DON'T PRIME unless you're trying to get fuel into the primer bulb. After that, don't prime it again. Switch to ON, choke to COLD, pull until it wants to start. Choke to RUN. Pull again. If it doesn't want to stay running, repeat the start procedure! Too easy. The instructions also say to hold the throttle wide open while pulling... no need to do this either. It'll go! I gave it 5 stars for the super easy start in sub zero. I'll write again after all the snow is gone and get to use it for its purpose.

There was very nice lady there that was in the plant section but came to help me anyway. The fellow that works in the section had gone home. She did everything in her power to make my experience a good one even though it wasn't her section. I had a job I needed for the next morning and I was tentative but she earned the sale. I bought the product on Sunday Sept 19th 2015 in the evening about 730. The lady in the plant section deserves a lot of credit. She is a dedicated soul. Thank you for your great service.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute garbage I bought one of these at the beginning of the season. After two months the carburetor started leaking and the trimmer stopped working. I returned it to Home Depot and since it was within 90 days they replaced it. I was happy with that, however the replacement they gave me had the exact same problem after two months. This is a huge waste of money. Echo does not warranty their carburetors and you will end up spending piles of money on maintenance. I would recommend buying Stihl or Redmax instead. Very disappointed. Considering I am a contractor and have bought many echo products I assumed that they would be willing to help me, I was wrong. Also it turns out that tons of people are having this same problem not just me. DO NOT BUY THIS TRIMMER.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Machine! I purchased the Echo SRM-225 about a month ago. I have used it 4 times at the cottage. The terrain is a little more challenging than your backyard and this trimmer functioned well beyond my expectations. It is the first straight shaft trimmer that I have owned and it is far better than the bent shafts I have had in the past. It is tough and cut through most things in its path. Very smooth and powerful engine and is very easy to handle during operation. I went with the echo because of the reviews that I read and also the 5 year warranty! No other manufacturer offers this. The one thing that I was not aware of when I bought the machine is that the head turns counter clockwise little hard to get used to that and I found that moving left to right when cutting keeps the trimmings away from you. This is not unique to Echo I was informed that all straight shafts all turn counter clockwise. Just an added note all the machines that are similar to this one can be quite heavy after a while so I bought a shoulder strap and that makes it a lot easier with less fatigue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Trimmer But Assessories Inconvenient I researched this product extensively and it paid off. Solid construction, smart technology and excellent results. I'd highly recommend this. I was disappointed when I realized I needed to purchase a shoulder strap separately but even more so when I discovered the straps are not carried instore. The strap is only $14 but I'd need to pay for shipping and wait a week to get it. Yes I could have purchased the trimmer and strap both online and get free shipping, but the grass couldn't wait. Love Home Depot and the trimmer, but a little thought needs to go into the bigger picture. You wouldn't sell paint and not carry brushes.

But power, ease of starting, line feed out feather, comes to an idle quickly & is ergonomically way better. This trimmer, even with a two year warranty is still cheaper than an equivalent Stihl trimmer, by at least $100-$150 It cut down thick tall weeds in seconds.

Starts right away even in cold weather and is perfect for use by my all-woman crew as it is the lightest trimmer I've owned. I love the self-feeding line head, which saves time and frustration. Highly recommend.

Do I have to mix fuel and oil together before pouring it in?

Technically no, you don't have to mix the fuel and oil before, however the oil does need to be mixed well with the fuel so it's much easier and cleaner to mix the two before pouring it in. Also, in order to get the correct ratio of fuel to oil (50:1) it's much easier to measure the and mix in a fuel container before adding to the fuel tank. If you want to avoid mixing your own, you can purchase premixed fuel at Home Depot, but it's a little more expensive. If you want to mix your fuel, here's my recommendation: get a small (1 gallon) fuel container and put 1 or two liters of premium fuel into it (easy to measure at the gas pump). Get a plastic syringe and measure out 20ml of 2 stroke oil per Liter of fuel (2L of fuel = 40ml of oil). Put the cap back on the fuel container and give it a good shake to mix the fuel and then you're ready to go.

Hello, thank you for your question. This unit comes standard with approximately 20' of spooled 0.095" Cross-Fire trimmer line inside of our Speed-Feed® 400 trimmer head. The line is an multi-sided polymer for increased efficiency with 8 cutting edges and is ideal for medium to heavy grass/weeds. The head is the fasted loading head trimmer head for a gas unit on the market, with a simplified loading process that allow an operator to spool line in up to 30 seconds.

I have seen the SRM 225 and the SRM 225i but what is the SRM 225-6 ?

Hello and thank you for your question. The SRM225-6 is just one of our manufacturing vendor codes for the SRM-225 unit. This is the standard SRM-225 that is shipped to retailers in multiple pack sizes whereas the SRM225SP is our single. The units are identical with the exception of one pack size being specifically designed for shipping to the stores and one being specifically designed for shipping to online customers.
