It has great power and is well balanced but the trimmer head is very poorly designed and is subject to excessive wear. The other problem is that none of my local dealers stock the replacement head. Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is great... I've only used it twice, but so far out performs any gas weed eater I've ever had. The first time I used it I had it on high speed for the tall grass in my ditch and it was too much, I had to turn it down to low. Also used a 5 amp battery the first time as I hadn't charged the 9 amp that came with it yet and finished all my trimming with power to spare. Love the fact that I can add attachments. 3 of my friends have bought these after seeing them perform.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Amazing at first - overheats and fails now When I first started using this trimmer I was in love. Fast, light, powerful. Then a month later, I noticed the plastic around the battery contact was melted at the negative terminal. I switched batteries, and the new battery terminal melted again. There's a grey/tan powder on the battery which I cleaned off which only appears on the batteries I use on the trimmer. My Milwuakee chainsaw doesn't do this. Then it it began having intermittent failures - it wouldn't start so I'd put it down, and pick it up a few minutes later and it would sometimes start. Now i'm afraid to use the trimmer because I don't want to ruin my expensive batteries. Very disappointed and feel ripped off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing tool! Just moved to AB, and didn't have a lawn back home. Now I do, and the place was a bit run down. I picked up this tool with the intent to buy further attachments. 9Ah battery last almost a full hour on high speed and set to the full 16" cut swath. I cleaned out almost 300-400 squre foot area of 3-4' tall thick grass on one charge and knew it was a beast of a tool. Picture is just over half of what I cleared out on one charge. about 35' long by 3-7' wide. Was 3' tall in there. Trimmer helped me find the steel support cable buried in the long grass and saved me destroying the new push mower! Buy with confidence!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive for cordless This Milwaukee M18 Fuel Quik-Lok power head and trimmer packs a lot of power for a cordless tool! The power head is shipped with the trimmer but is designed to work with a variety of attachments with several new additions recently released to the market and promises of more on the way. This particular package includes the Quik'Lok power head, trimmer attachment and a rapid charger with X18 XC8.0 High Output battery. Attachment changes are quick and easy, and lock in securely. Just align the orientation label on the attachment facing up, depress the lever on the power head shaft, slide the two together until they click in and turn the knob to secure. This unit is very compact with attachment removed enabling easy storage / transport. The power head generates a generous amount of power and does so with two settings (turtle 0-4900RPM and rabbit 0-6200RPM) which are engaged with the simple push of a button. The throttle response is nearly instant and the variable speed trigger offers a user experience similar to that of a gas unit... minus the engine maintenance, mixed fuel, fumes and noise. What's not to like about that?! The included battery is very capable and charges quickly. While this will technically work with any M18 battery, I'd suggest the XC5.0 as the minimum with a preference to larger as it will drain smaller batteries quickly. The trimmer comes with an easy load trimmer head which makes line changes a snap and accommodates both 0.080" and 0.095" line. Cutting swath is adjustable from 14-16" simply by turning the cutter which is affixed to the guard. I've found the trimmer comfortable to use with minimal vibration transmitted to the user. Its light, quite quiet and delivers ample power which is in line with the gas trimmer I used previously. I have found I perform much of my trimming in turtle mode with excellent results. This tool will make quick work of trimming and edging as equipped or optional attachments can be added to really unlock its potential.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressed...great power Just finished my first round with the 2825-20. It felt a little weird for the 1st minute or so. As i continued I just started liking it more and more. I was a little concerned about the overheating shutdown issues but did not encounter any problems. I also felt that the throttle was a little too responsive on decreasing the revs. I would decrease very slightly and it just turned off. Would like to see a little more range there. I feel confident enough in the unit that I will permanently park my Stihl gas trimmer go out and purchase the Milwaukee 49-16-2719 Quik-Lok hedge trimmer today.

Is trimmer line included to get you up and running the first time or do you have to purchase separately?

Yes, the spool has trimmer line on it and there is a spare trimmer line with it. It works great. We have had this for a year now and are extremely happy with this product. Would highly recommend it.

Hi Daniel - Thanks for the question. Any Milwaukee M18 battery will operate this item, but it is highly recommended to use a "High Output" Milwaukee battery of at least 8.0ah

Can you advise the approximate run time I might get using my XC3.0 batteries in this trimmer to do some light touch-up around trees & raised beds in my small urban yard? Might I get 15-20 minutes? Any other concerns using the XC3.0? Thanks so much!

When I first purchased I had only the 2.0 Batteries that came with my drill/driver. I would only get about 7-10 mins of run time. I since have bought the XC 3.0 Battery and now get 25-30 mins of run time. The trimmer itself is very impressive. I find it works just as well as the gas trimmers that I used rent. It is also much lighter

What is the average difference in run time between the 8Ah battery and the 6Ah battery offered in a different sale? This is required to make an informative decision between the two different tool/battery/charger package deals.

Run-time is dependent on a number of variables including type of cut and thickness of grass. Generally speaking the 8Ah battery will run longer than the 6Ah battery for the same application. If you are referring to comparing this model (2825-21ST) with model 2828-21 that includes a 6Ah battery, the tool itself is different. This model (2825-21ST) is FUEL, featuring the most advanced cordless technology in the industry, a POWERSTATE Brushless Motor, REDLINK PLUS Intelligence and REDLITHIUM Battery Technology, delivering unrivaled performance.
